As Matt leaves you, you turn to rejoin the group but are startled by a small body in your way.

"Oh I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to scare you" says Valkyrae.

"All fine. How's your night going?"

She smiles at your question and states that it was going very well

"Glad to hear" you grin along and continue "By the way, you're in those Bella Poarch music videos right??"

She nods. "Yes I was. Why do you ask?"

"Oh, just wondering. It's my dream to one day direct one. Guess it's silly, huh?"

"No, not at all! It's a gold mine of content creators for networking! I guess it's fun too!"

You chuckle, "Yeah, that's definetely what I meant..."

She smiles, laughing at your joke.

"To be honest... I was more or less thinking about all the cute girls that would be there"

Her grin fades and she rolls her eyes, giving you a playful slap on the arm.

"I'm kidding!... Mostly. It's more or less because you know you've made it when you're directing something that huge and important."

She nods her head, and you can tell she's genuinely interested.

"Well, Y/N, you're in the running for an important position and we're heavily leaning towards you. Trust me, you'll make it very soon"

You genuinely smile at her, your white teeth giving show.

"I appreciate your confidence in me. I know it's a bit weird to ask and probably a bit early, but like... what did you guys see in me?"

"Y/N you've got to be kidding. Your portfolio is impressive and your style is unique. It's something we thought would be a great fit for our org..."

You blush. The past two years had been difficult, but her words reminded you of your college and post college days, before the pandemic. You were breaking out on the scene and gaining alot of eyes on your work. You were even nominated for an "Up-and-Coming Director of The Year" award for your hard work. You imagine what it could've been if the world hadn't changed. But it's unhealthy to dwell in it for long.

"Hello??"

You shoot your head back up, realizing you had gotten lost in thought.

"Oh my bad. What were you saying?"

"I was saying that it's been fun talking, but we're here to have fun! We can worry about all of the logistics tomorrow"

You nod your head in agreeance and follow behind her as she rejoins the group by the bar.

"Hey Y/N!! How's it going so far?" Brooke asks you curiously.

"It's going great! Do you guys just hang out here like this often?"

"Um kinda. More or less. We just sometimes have busy schedules but we try to all come together at least twice a month."

You nod your head, "Makes sense... this is actually a pretty nice spot to get some b roll, ya know? Like as a transition piece..."

She looks at you like the film nerd you are, but can't help but smile.

"I like him"

The rest of the group seems to all agree and you can't help but blush.

Rae pipes in, saving you from actually having to take a compliment for once.

"You want a drink?"

Before you can contest, Rae yells "Jack! Pour me and my friend here some whiskey!"
