One Year Later...
Wind chimes twirl and play their beautiful melodies as you sit in an old, wooden chair. Above you is a canvas top to the canopy you sit under. The air is so fresh and you overhear birds chirping just on the other side of the fence.
You're at home, your hometown, at the house you grew up in. The backyard was always spacious, and now it was put to test on your wedding day. You awaited the start of the ceremony, tapping your foot and strumming away at a guitar. It was well out of tune, but it wasn't of much worry to you at this point.
You played songs you'd been taught years and years before, by your father, who learned those exact songs from his father. You put your own spin on things, playing your own rendition of those songs, but they remained true to the source material. You were alone with your thoughts, which never seemed to go too well in the past, but now you felt alright.
It was every kids dream to get married to the woman he loved, the woman he lived for. You were so fortunate to live out that dream, at your home of all places. The canopy had polyester siding, a detachable door on the western side. And so, you weren't left alone for too long.
The door slowly came open, a body accompanying it. Matt enters the room, closing the door and attaching the velcro to keep it shut.
"Big day, huh?" He asks.
You nod.
"You know, I wasn't sure Rae would ever get married. She didn't always have the best of luck with guys and she always seemed so damn independent..." he says.
You nod, "You think she's making a mistake?"
"Not a chance. She's so lively around you, man. It's like she's a different person. And I see that with you as well. The two of you, I mean, it was written in the stars, man"
You chuckle, but it's good to hear someone else notice the chemistry the two of you shared.
"I'm happy for you, for both of you. I just wanted to congratulate you in person..."
"Thank you, Matt."
"One last thing..."
"Yes?"
"My wedding gift... I don't want you and Rae to work yourselves to death. So I'm giving you a portion of my equity in the company, which technically makes you an owner. The shares have been on the rise as of late, and it's looking like we might be the first org to successfully go public, unlike FaZe."
You laugh, "yeah, FaZe went to shit..."
"Optic is still doing well. Thinking of buying them up too. That org still holds a place in my heart..." he says.
"Man, I remember those days when you were on Optic. Feels like a whole lifetime ago..."
"Yeah, don't get me going! Just know, I've got you covered, man. You ain't gotta work a day in your life if you ain't wanna"
"I appreciate that, Matt. I really do."
He nods, "I outta leave you to it then... Good luck."
"Thanks man." You say as Matt exits the tent.
You ready yourself, trying to make sure you hair was perfect and your tuxedo looked nice. It was only minutes until the ceremony started...
And with a knock at the door, you were made aware that it was your time to make the walk. You gather yourself and stand up, straightening your tux one last time. You exit the tent, making way to the backyard.
As you came around the corner, everything came into view. The yard was large and had a pond in the southeast portion, one that was setup as a backdrop behind the wedding altar. You walk down the aisle, white chairs on both sides of you, filled with your loved ones and friends. As you walk, you look around at all the familiar faces, so thankful of their attendance.
