The car ride home isn't a long one, yet the day had gone on long enough that the sun had began to set. You come up on a red light and halt your car, awaiting it's change to green.

While waiting, you veer your head westward, noticing the warm pigment filling the sky. The sun was barely visible over the horizon, but it illuminated the sky in an undescribable way. It was beautiful, it eased your mind in a way.

You had been overthinking just about everything the past couple of days. Though everything was finally going your way, it was hard not to consider your troubled past and what might go wrong. But you managed to put that all behind you now, and out of the corner of your eye, you notice the light switch to green...

--------------------------------------------------------------

Arriving home, you turn the car radio down a few notches and slow, pulling into the short driveway. Rae parked her car inside of the garage, a garage that was supposed to hold multiple vehicles, but for now, it only had space for the one. So unlucky for you, your car had to be parked right outside.

With your car placed in park, you turn the key in the ignition, killing the engine. Heading inside, you notice that none of the living room lights were on, yet the kitchen lights were. Inside, the smell coming from the kitchen was... Delightful.

"Rae? What are you cooking over there?" You ask.

"You're home! Okay, tonight, we will be eating spaghetti, with a side of Parmesan roasted broccoli, my treat."

"Oooh, sounds fancy!" You say.

She shakes her head,

"Not really. But eat up!" She says, setting down your plate at the dining room table.

Accompanied with your meal is an empty wine glass. Rae grabs a rather exquisite looking bottle from her cabinet, opening it in front of you, readying herself to pour it into her glass.

"This is the fancy stuff. Fine-aged wine that I got on our trip to Tokyo. Cost me a pretty penny, but I thought we... I could enjoy it on this monumental occasion! For you, we've got Sparkling Grape Juice..."

"Ahh... Fancy. I appreciate the gesture..."

She pours the wine into her glass and then grabs the other bottle, pouring a small amount into your glass. After, she takes her place in the seat across from you, holding her glass high, offering a toast.

"To the future and whatever it may bring..." She toasts.

"To the future..." You murmur.

Your glasses come together, making a grand tink noise as they collide. The each of you draw your glasses back and take a slight sip, eyeing each other down. Her eyes held a glimmer of optimism and positivity considering the future. You saw a future with this girl and it seemed she also saw a future with you as well.

You set your glass down on the table, a grape taste lingering in your mouth. Your eyes shift and focus on the meal before you. You twist your fork to compound a certain amount of noodles on your fork. You blow on the steaming dish and give it a taste. Your mouth waters as your initial taste is met, you're quite impressed with the level of expertise put into the meal.

"You cooked this? Are you sure?" You tease.

"Awww how kind of you!... Yes, I cooked it. I hoped you'd enjoy it..."

"I love it, Rae. You should cook more often because... This is fucking amazing" you compliment her.

She blushes, moving her eyes to meet yours again. She was far cuter than any girl you'd met in your life, far cuter than any girl you deserved. You'd never expected yourself to be with such a girl, a girl who stole your heart like she did.
