Settling Down Aint Easy (Epilogue)

Guys, guys, guys, I can explain. I know I said this was in the works a longggg time ago, but ITS HERE NOW. I rewrote this a couple times and nothing ever felt right, but this seems to be what I was first thinking of all that time ago. This is just the first of many chapters that will be posted for this epilogue, so stay tune.

After a long time, my most popular and FIRST ever series is back. This series is what made me as a writer and gave me the confidence to truly put my work out there. I haven't written anything way too smutty since, though I haven't fully abandoned those kind of scenes. This epilogue will have a couple scenes from what I have planned, so watch out for that.

You fought for her love, you really did. It took going home, It took your first love telling you what an idiot you were for you to realize her worth in your heart. And you just couldn't let that love falter.

And whilst that sounds like a fairytale ending, for a moment, it almost seemed like one in your eyes. It seemed like, even though good things seldomly happened to you, you had somehow won the lottery.

But it was all the good in the world, all the love and dreams of a better future that held you back from opening your eyes to one glaring issue. You'd been sleeping around and unintentionally making women fall for you for months now.

You had women lined up that would take Rae's place, you had their hearts stolen. You didn't mean it, and you were just navigating a weird landscape, something new. You'd never had such an open relationship and you thought you made yourself clear that Rae was the one.

But you hadn't, and while the two of you kept your engagement private, most of them were secretly hoping to be able to love you, to hold you.

Now, the way it's phrased there, it almost seems obsessive and borderline stalk-ish behavior, but it wasn't anything of the sort. They had all separately fallen for your charm, and deep down they wished they could be the only woman for you, they hoped you'd choose them.

So when you are Rae made the decision not to keep the engagement hidden for long, unbeknownst to you, it was the catalyst that started one shitty chain reaction.

The first of the girls to find out was Imane. She laid on her bed, cozily snuggling in with her soft comforter. She was on her phone, simply browsing TikTok when a notification popped up, a notification from Twitter... It was you.

She sees a slight preview and is taken aback at what this possibly could entail, so her curiosity takes over and she taps on it.

Your Tweet pops up on her screen, only 7 minutes old now but having garnered 14k likes already. She starts reading, her heart quickly falls as she comes to realize it's meaning.

"To the pleasure of quite a few parasocial viewers and an influx of theories that Rae and I are dating, im thinking that now is probably one of the best times to set things straight. Yes, Rae and I WERE dating. You guys were right, and I usually wouldn't make this sorta thing public, but it felt right in this moment. Now, most of you probably caught on to the wording of that sentence, most of you probably saw "were" and realized what this was... and you're wrong. Rae and I didn't break up, we WERE dating, but we aren't anymore. As of late, Rae and I have gotten engaged, and I couldn't be happier with this decision. Im gonna marry my best friend, and im gonna be one happy man because of it. We wanted to keep this private, but it had to be said at some point and I reckon this is reason to celebrate. Thank you for always being in our corner, and here's to a new chapter ❤️"

Imane is left confused, angry, and with a feeling of loneliness. She can't come to explain why, considering you only met a few times and mostly just kept things physical. But she liked you, like really liked you. You were easy to talk to and you made her smile even when you weren't trying. She secretly had hoped for something more with you, but now that possibility seemed impossible, and she was hurting because of it.
