Without realizing it, I had let go of the still boiling hot cup of tea I had been holding on to. The mug slid out of my hands and shattered on the ground, tea spilling everywhere. Tears started pooling in my eyes and I ignored the burns I had just suffered.
"Are they...Where..." I stuttered. "They are in a muggle hospital in London and have to be monitored closely. They are in a rather critical state..." said Professor McGonagall. "Will they make it?" I whispered. Hot tears started streaming down my cheeks as both Professors failed to answer. "Will they make it?" I asked louder, but with a cracking voice. I looked up, barely being able to see through my watery eyes. "There is a chance they will, but as Professor McGonagall said, they are in a rather critical state." Professor Dumbledore said in a calm voice, putting a hands on my right shoulder. "Can't we do anything? Send Madam Pomfrey? Or go and heal them ourselves?" I asked full of desperation. "I'm afraid not. We cannot interfere, unfortunately it's against the law to heal muggle injuries caused by muggles or muggle creations if no member of the wizarding world was responsible... and even if we could, it's... we just can't. We're both very sorry." 'Sorry my ass' I thought to myself. "I-I... I have to go" I said, got up and ran out of the room. I just ran and ran aimlessly through the almost empty castle, for as long as my legs could carry me. When they finally gave in and I dropped down to the floor, I buried my face in my hands and broke down completely. After a few minutes of sobbing though, I heard a voice behind me.
„Have you finally realized you don't belong here?" Draco Malfoy sneered behind me. With my head still in my hands I didn't turn around, I just said „Leave me alone" in between sobs. „Serves you right, to sit here and cry. No friends to protect you, no teachers. You're not so strong and mighty now, are you?" taunted the boy who was now standing in front of me. „Leave me the fucking hell alone, Malfoy!" I yelled. „Why would I? I find it quite enjoyable to see that I was right." Malfoy said with ugly satisfaction in his voice. I didn't have the energy to say something, but luckily I heard footsteps behind us and Hermione yelling „What did you do to her, Malfoy?!"
„There comes your little help force. I guess I was right again, you're not so quick-witted when you're all by yourself. As I figured, you can't even make it here without help. Enjoy your suffering!" and as he turned around and left, so did a tabby cat, that once again, I hadn't noticed.
„Y/n! What happened? What did he do to you? Are you ok?" Harry, Ron and Hermione asked. Hermione kneeled down to my right, Harry to my left and Ron in front of me.
„Malfoy...he..." I started, but before I could continue, Ron already started yelling „I knew that stupid bloody git was up to something!" „No." I said. „What do you mean ‚No'?" Harry asked. „He's not the reason I'm... it's my parents... they..." I let out another sob, when Hermione pulled me into a hug. „It's ok Y/n. Take your time." she whispered. „There was an accident and my parents... they are at the hospital. They might not make it." „Oh no, I'm so sorry!" Ron said. „Did McGonagall say anything about them maybe being able to help?" Harry asked, but Hermione responded for me. „They can't. It's against the law... no interference with muggle injuries..." Hermione said. „I'm so sorry to hear about your parents, Y/n... was Malfoy trying to cheer you up?" she asked. Did she really just ask that? „That asshole and cheering me up? He doesn't know what happened. He thought I realized he was right and that I don't belong here... his usual bullshit." I said cynically. Hermione, Ron and Harry helped me get up and gave me a tight group hug. „I'm sure it'll be ok. And remember to just ignore Malfoy. He's just an awful, jealous git." Ron said. „You know what will take your mind off of things? The students from the other schools will be arriving tomorrow!" Hermione said.
When October 30th finally arrived, I felt terribly drained. I had barely slept that night and I was still feeling down, but it was going to be a big day nonetheless. Thus, I got dressed, brushed my hair, put on some make up in the attempt to hide the huge bags under my eyes and got ready to start the day. It didn't quite go as planned though.
