"I can't believe it, I thought she'd let you go earlier so that you'd still be able to Welcome the pupils from Durmstrang and Beauxbatons with the rest of Hogwarts! You missed the whole show! Beauxbaton arrived by unicorn carriages, and Durmstrang in a huge ship that rose from the depth of the lake! That's just unfair!" Hermione ranted in the commons room. She, Ron and harry had been waiting for me to finally come back from detention, and thus been sitting here for a while now. "Yeah! That's just bollocks! You know who's here? VICTOR KRUM!!" Ron exclaimed. "What?? Is he in Durmstrang?" I asked excitedly. "Sure seems like it! Karkaroff is mighty proud of him... treats him like he's royalty! I reckon he's going to be Durmstrang's school champion!" Ron said. "I bet! He'd be tough to beat, I imagine." I replied. "Hey but, how did it go with Malfoy? I don't even see scratches, and you're not locked up, so you didn't kill him! What happened?" Harry asked. "Do I sense disappointment?" I chuckled. "We were arguing, and he was being a fucking asshole as always, but eventually we just sat there and ignored each other's presence. Until of course, in the end I had to go to the bathroom. he noticed and thought it'd be fun to remind me of all sorts of noises water can make." "Wow, that's what I call adult behavior..." Hermione said, shaking her head. "Right?! Like, what does he think he's winning by that? Humiliating me while we're all by ourselves??" I complained. "If you ask me, he's jealous." Ron pointed out. "Jealous?" "Yes. You're the smartest witch of our year, possibly even all years presently here - no offense Hermione" "None taken!" "And he's got good grades too, but not as good as you, and he's been living with magic his whole life, while you haven't, and yet you're better than him. If you ask me, that bothers him, so he's trying to intimidate you to make up for the fact he's intimidated himself!" Ron explained. Then Harry chimed in: "That makes so much sense! I remember, in first year... or well, any year now, but especially then... He was so jealous of me being popular without even knowing why... he's just craving attention, that's all." "Yeah, that seems logical." I said. But no matter how logical it sounded, it still annoyed the everlasting shit outta me. "We should go to bed now. Tomorrow will be exciting enough!" Hermione said. "Yeah..." I rolled my eyes "...unless I miss all the fun because I'm stuck in detention again" "You won't! Just don't let him get to you." Hermione encouraged me. "You of all people should know that's easier said than done! Didn't you punch him two years ago??" I said, causing Hermione to laugh. "Yeah, well, maybe. But that was very liberating, I can tell you that! Anyway... Have you heard any news of your parents yet?" Hermione asked, now with a more serious voice. The thought of my parents made fear rise in me... the thought of losing them was just... "No. I haven't." I said quickly. "But I will ask Professor McGonagall tomorrow." "Ok. we all have our fingers crossed for them!" Harry said. He knew what it meant to have no parents, but to lose parents? I suddenly felt all alone with my pain. "I'm tired, I think I'll head to bed now." I said, keeping my voice low. "Good night everyone!" "Good night y/n.

At breakfast the following day, Hermione filled me up on a few details I had missed thanks to my ... jail time. "Ludo Bagman, the Head of the Department of magical games and sports, and Barty Crouch, the Head of the Department of international Magical cooperation, arrived yesterday because they are supposed to be judges along with professor Dumbledore, Madame Maxime, the Headmistress of Beauxbatons, and Igor Karkaroff, the Headmaster of Durmstrang. That Goblet there..." she pointed towards a big goblet in the front of the Great Hall "is called the Goblet of Fire. It decides who will be each school's champion tonight." Then she went on to tell me about how Fred and George had failed to cross the age line.  Obviously, they failed. "It was worth a shot!" Shouted George from a few seats down. "And incredibly foolish, if you ask me." Said Hermione, but quiet enough so that Fred and George wouldn't hear. I noticed Ron rolling his eyes "You're such a buzz kill Hermione! At least we would have had higher chances of having a Gryffindor as school champion!"

That evening, we all met in the great hall, that had been decorated nicely for Halloween. Pumpkins, little witches on brooms, candles and the scent of pumpkin bread filled the Great Hall, while more and more students arrived and sat down to witness the Goblet of Fire's choosing ceremony. I hadn't seen any of our guest students before since I had been locked up with that Malfoy git, so I was able o see them for the first time now. To me they seemed like normal people, but some of the Hogwarts guys seemed to be overly interested in some of the Beauxbatons girls, especially one with long silvery blondish hair. "Isn't she beautiful?" Ron sighed at the sight of her, causing Ginny to roll her eyes. "You're just so annoying Ron. Look at her complaining about literally anything! Looks are not everything" I silently agreed, but then again, I noticed quite a lot of girls gawking at Victor Krum, whom Ron and Harry had already told me about. Then, our attention was directed to the front, where the Goblet of Fire has started to send out more and more, beautiful glittery, golden sparks.
