Chapter 5

It felt normal not saying good morning to Shigeo like you always use to. The flow of the day seems normal, except Shigeo wasn't part of it today. And the fact that you're unaware of it makes it seem like you're used to not having Shigeo around when in reality, it's the opposite.

Even though your confession to him changed a lot of things, it didn't change the fact that you and Shigeo were always together before all of that happened.

But the both of you seemed okay to be distant from one another after your confession.

Or so we thought.

You currently forced yourself to stop working in the meantime and once again decided to buy Shigeo his favorite drink. With a smile, you head towards the cafeteria to buy the said beverage.

And as you walk there, you stopped midway to hear some delinquents currently trying to harass someone. Your eyebrows furrowed as you approach the scene.

Onigawara was always a loudmouth, it's nothing new.

Though your eyes immediately displayed worried when you saw you they were currently 'harassing'. It was Shigeo. You figured you'd approach this problem using your position, so it wouldn't be too much trouble.

Onigawara wasn't actually harassing Shigeo, he was just violently talking to one of his friends and he's really ticked off about what Kagaya said to him yesterday. And it still annoys him today. He was just about to ask Shigeo about their club activity, but the poor boy looked so scared because it looked like Onigawara is letting out his anger on Shigeo, which wasn't the truth.

Shigeo just looked terrified even though Onigawara is his club member.

You displayed a stern look as you approach them, "What's happening here?" You asked as Onigawara looked in your direction as his scary glare immediately soften.

You raised an eyebrow at him as you cross your arms on your chest.

Onigawara rolled his eyes and sigh, "It's not what you think, (Y/n). We're not harassing Kageyama, I'm just really angry today because of what your 'boyfriend' said to me yesterday," He said as he avoided your glare.

You looked at him, confused for a second, "Boyfriend?" You asked as you looked over to Shigeo who seemed to have the same expression as you. Why is he also confused?

"Kagaya Mizuki? That bastard called me a Male Wife yesterday," He said as he huffed as he stuffed his hands in his pockets.

"Mizuki is not my boyfriend," You clarified as you pointed at Onigawara with a scowl on your face, "If you ever cause any trouble, I'm not gonna go easy on you," You threatened as Onigawara scoff.

"And what are you going to do, Secretary? As far as I remember you only won a black belt one time last year... so it's not... that very... threatening..." Onigawara said slowly as he began to realize what he was saying. He quickly clicked his tongue in annoyance, "Fine, we won't be doing any more trouble, besides, I'm starting a new life now, so expect less troubles from me now," He said.

This somehow made you smile in satisfaction, "Good, Good. Now, off you go~" You said as you smile at him and his friends who just made themselves go out of your sight. You watch them disappear as you look back at Shigeo, "You okay, Shige-chan?" You asked.

He nodded in response and silently sigh in relief, "Yes, I'm fine. Thank you," He said as he give you small smile.

It somehow made you blush a little as you instantly display it with a grin, "I was just making my way towards the cafeteria, wanna come with me? I was about to buy you your drink," You said.

You already guessed that Shigeo would find a way to excuse himself, or just simply decline your offer. But it was worth a shot. It has been a really while since you and Shigeo had lunch together, but not like you're going to join him right now, you have a lot of work to do. You just want him to come with you so it'll save you some time to buy his beverage because you can immediately give it to him.

"Sure," He replied shorty with a small smile.

Your eyes flutter in surprise, but you hid them immediately as you smile at him, "Nice. Let's go," You said as Shigeo nodded as the two of you headed towards the cafeteria.

He accepted your offer, and that's not what you were hoping for. Not that you didn't want it to happen, you were just baffled that he accepted it because it certainly feels like he's trying to ignore you these past few days. What made him change his mind? Did Ritsu talk to him about you and your fragile feelings? Hopefully not, that'd be totally embarrassing.

"I heard from Ritsu that you're the one arranging the school's annual activity, are you doing okay,(Y/n)?" He asked as you look at him in surprise, though he didn't seem to notice this as you immediately look away before he could even look at you.

He started the conversation, and that's very odd and out of blue. Shigeo never started a conversation, even back then.

You chuckled, "You never start a conversation, what happened to you?" You jokingly asked him as you shortly laugh.

"Oh, Shishou said I should work more on my confidence and social communication," Shigeo confessed. He was a bit embarrassed about it at first before telling you, but hearing you laugh somehow made his nervous heart at ease.

He totally forgot that he's free to express himself and his feelings in your presence.

"I totally forgot you still work for Reigen-san," You paused as you smiled at him, "I'm so happy that he's helping you grow Shigeo, keep it up!" You enthusiastically said to him which made him stare at you with his eyes gleaming for a bit, "It's gonna be a big help for you to confess your feelings to the person you actually liked!" You said as you giggled right after as you nudge his shoulder.

Even though it hurts you to say that, you suddenly felt like there's a need for you to encourage him. If you can't be with him, you told yourself that if he's happy, then you're happy. Even if the source of his happiness is not you, you're willing to let go just to see his precious smile.

Shigeo was quiet during that, and you were unaware of it, "Just make sure to treat her right, okay? If she, however, doesn't treat you right, let me know! I'll give her a massive scolding!" You joked as you laugh.

Shigeo knew that was a joke. If someone makes a joke or a remark about him being in a relationship with Tsubomi, or either him confessing to her, his heart would instantly skip a beat and he would have a slight blush on his cheeks.

But for some reason, when you do it,

Shigeo doesn't seem to like it.
