Chapter 2

Yesterday was a mess, you didn't even get to say goodbye to Shigeo since you were needed at the student council immediately. And the meeting took a while it manage to get done when the sun was already out. You sigh as you stop in front of the doors of the school, it's starting to rain.

You went back once again to get your umbrella to your locker. Once you enter, you saw Mizuki, a male classmate of yours and also your childhood friend. He looked at you and smiled.

"Oyasumi, (Y/n)-chan!" He greeted you as he walked toward you.

"Hey," You greeted with a small smile.

Mizuki immediately noticed your lack of enthusiasm as he looked at you worriedly, "Had a rough day?" He asked as he gently hold your left shoulder, looking at you directly in the eyes.

You laughed half-heartedly at him, "Yeah, Yeah, let me just grab my umbrella, it's already raining," You said as you walk towards your locker.

Mizuki was a bit shocked at this, "For real? Shit, I forgot my umbrella!" He said as he frantically looked panicked.

You chuckle at his behavior, "It's alright, let's share. You're the one who's going to hold it though since you're taller than me," You said as you handed him your sunflower patterned umbrella.

Mizuki nodded and smiled, "Oh yeah, I completely forgot we live in the same neighborhood," He said as he laughed. You rolled your eyes at him as the two of you walked out of the school building.

Mizuki opened the umbrella as you walk alongside him, making sure not to get your bag wet because it contains the school documents and what kind of activity will be happening next week.

"So, how did the confession go?" He asked as he looked over at you.

You sigh as you remember the incident. You just forgot about it a moment ago, and now it came flooding back. You didn't speak as you bit your inner cheeks, nonetheless, Mizuki continued to speak.

"I seriously don't understand or see what you saw in Shigeo Kageyama," He said, he looked over to you to see you glaring at him as he sweats nervously, "No offense (N/n), it's just-- how can you be so in love with a guy who couldn't even express his feelings, even with his expression. I really find him hard to read especially when he wore that same boring expression every single day." He said as he smiled at you nervously, clearly sweating and worrying that he already said something wrong.

You're too tired to even start an argument with him and you just sigh, "Shigeo's actually a sweet guy, Mizuki. Ever since we were kids, I always admired him." You said with a small sad smile.

Mizuki felt bad seeing you like that, "So, what did happen to your confession with him?" He asked.

You laughed bitterly as you playfully slap his arms, trying your best not to cry as you remember, "Ah! Haha, he turned me down saying he liked someone else," You said as your fake laugh died down, "That girl is lucky." You muttered.

"Oh wow, I'm so sorry to hear that (Y/n). Are you taking the rejection well though?" He asked once again.

Mizuki only received silence as an answer, and so he decided to look over to you to see you gripping his sleeve with teary eyes and snot coming out of your nose.

"NO! I'M NOT TAKING IT WELL!" You shouted as you cried.

"Jeez..." Mizuki sweat drop.

You started shaking Mizuki's arms as Mizuki was ready to puke at any moment now, "HE REJECTED ME BUT I STILL LIKE HIM! IT HURTS TO SEE HIM SILENTLY TRYING TO IGNORE ME! MIZUKI WHAT SHOULD I DOOOOO??!" You whine as you started sobbing uncontrollably. You were holding in your true feelings, you acted as if you were okay but on the inside, you were dying to tell someone how you really felt. And that's what's happening right now with Mizuki.

You were still shaking Mizuki as he burped a vomit but he immediately gulped in as he violently shook you off, "STOP SHAKING ME FIRST! I'M GONNA PUKE ON YOU!" He shouted a bit angrily as he huffed. And when you finally let go of his sleeve, he fixed it and sigh, "I honestly don't know what I should say (Y/n), but what's your plan? Did Shigeo even say anything like he still wants to continue to be friends with you?" He asked.

Now that you remember it, Shigeo didn't say anything like that. Right after he said that he liked someone else, you apologized and thanked him, and immediately left the scene.

You sniff as you grab Mizuki's arm and wipe your tears with his sleeve. Mizuki had a disgusted look when you also use his sleeve to wipe the coming snot in your nose. Mizuki immediately retreated his arm back, "DISGUSTING (Y/N)!" He shouted.

"I'm sorry," You paused as you compose yourself, "No, Shigeo didn't say anything about us continuing to be friends," You said.

Mizuki looked at you in disbelief, "And you still buy him milk at lunchtime?" He asked as you nodded in response.

Mizuki sigh. He didn't want to say anything else, He doesn't want his best friend to overthink, she already looked tired as hell, and him making it worse by saying something about Mob not wanting to be friends with you after that confession is a crime. If Shigeo didn't clarify anything if he still wants to continue his friendship with you, then that could lead to one thing.

Mob doesn't want to be friends with you anymore because of that confession.

Mizuki knows that you're not well aware of that fact because this is your first time confessing to someone and he knows it. He knows you too well. You're quite sensitive under that tough shell you got on because of being in the student council. He didn't want to ruin anything else, you're heart might probably not take it well.

And so, Mizuki decided to lie.

"That's okay, (Y/n)! I'm pretty sure things won't change between you and Shigeo! You're just overthinking stuff!" He said with an enthusiastic tone as he grinned at you, hoping it would make you feel better.

You look over to him and give him a small sad smile and nodded, "You're right, maybe I am just overthinking things. Thanks, Mizuki," You said as you pat his back, "You know you're pretty dumb," You insulted him as that irks Mizuki as he slapped you at the back of your head and groaned in pain, "Hey!" You shouted at him.

"I know you're heartbroken and shit, but you don't get to call me that and use your situation as an advantage!" He angrily shouted at you as you began to laugh.

Mizuki scoffed to hear you laugh again.

He just lied to his best friend, but he didn't want to see her all sad. It's for a good cause.

"(Y/n)-Senpai likes Nii-san?" Ritsu said to himself quietly as he heard the whole conversation between you and your male classmate. He unconsciously put his hand on his mouth to cover it.

'And he rejected her without telling her that they should still be friends?!' He thought as he looked at you in disbelief.

Should he go and ask his brother about this? Probably not a good idea. Nevermind.

Kagaya Mizuki is a long-term friend of yours and also your neighbor whose house is just in front of yours.
