*3 Years Later*

"Are you excited?" I ask Chris as I straighten his tie. Today was his graduation and I couldn't have been prouder of him.

"I think my stomach is about to eat itself." He turns to check his reflection in the mirror and I don't miss the beads of sweat that have formed on his brow.

"You're going to be ok. It's just me, the kids, and our families."

"Yup..."

"Hey, look at me. You're going to be amazing! And when this is all over, we'll tell them our exciting news."

"Thank you, for everything you did the last ten years for me, for our kids. I wouldn't have been able to do this if I didn't have you by my side."

"Chris, if you don't stop you're going to have me in tears before we even get to your graduation." I say through a watery smile.

*After the ceremony*

We were sitting around in Lisa's backyard after the ceremony. In his nerves, Chris had tripped up the stairs as he was receiving his diploma. After a couple of laughs at himself for that, he seemed to calm down and the kids actually behaved enough for us to get some pictures in his cap and gown.

"So Chris, now that you've graduated, are you still thinking of working at the bank?" my mom asks.

He turns to me and I nod excitedly. "Well... actually... about that, I was approached with a job for Pixar, as one of their animators. It won't be any huge pieces yet but it's still an animation job. And they're covering the cost to move us out to California."

Everyone cheers. "Oh that's so amazing!" Lisa says as she pulls him into a tight hug before turning and giving me one as well.

"I agree. And they are also letting us wait until school is out for these munchkins so that they're not unnecessarily stressed."

"And you're ok with this?" my mom asks me later that night as Chris and my dad are putting the kids in the car.

I nod. "I am. I decided a long time ago that I would follow him wherever. This is just one of those times."

"I'm happy for you both." She smiles as Chris comes up behind me and puts an arm around my waist.

"Me too. Who knew plan B could work out so well?"

"Certainly not you." I say and we all life. But Chris was right. This wasn't originally how we planned our future, but I wouldn't trade our life, or our children, for anything.
