Prim POV

After leaving the cart I stumbled around in an attempt to find my room. Suddenly I heard voices coming from an adjacent room steadily getting closer. I panicked and quickly wiped away the tears in my no doubt red eyes and prayed that whoever was coming this way would not noticed my tear-streaked cheeks. Silently I walked towards the voices and was shocked when I heard Haymitch and Peeta talking. "How do I win? I can't let that little girl beat me, I can't die because of a twelve year old and I already have clashed with her." came the all too familiar voice of Peeta. The two had stopped moving forward and I imagined them sitting together in luxurious chairs, unaware of my presence. "Listen Peeta, even if you two were to make it past the first day neither one of you would win." "You don't understand, I HAVE to beat her, this is my pride." Peeta replied, his voice rising as he spoke. "Tell me how to beat her, you one your games, I can't lose this." Haymitch sat silently, pondering what to say next. What he said shocked me beyond reason. "I honestly can't believe that you want to take the life of a twelve year old with a loving family that depends on her to survive simply because of pride. You did not say it was because it was necessary to kill her so that you can win, you said that you had to kill her to save your pride. Boy, I don't think you have anything to be proud of if that is your reasoning. She is a strong girl who will earn the love of many capital citizens, keep that in mind when she is the one who beats you in the games." I imagined Peeta's shell shocked face. "By the way, she is standing right outside the room and I am going to tell you right now Peeta that you just lost any respect from her as well as any chance of tricking her into being your ally so that you can stab her in the back. Have fun living with yourself." he got up and sarcastically patted Peeta on the back.
