Curious, I reached into the back of the cupboard and found a cup unlike the others. The image of a mocking jay was printed on the front in blood red coloring. It's beak was open with three music notes coming out of it's beak and the words, "May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor" were printed beneath the bird's feet. Weird. I shrugged and placed the cocoa powder in the mug and set off in search of a kettle to boil water.
After I had prepared the cocoa I walked around the train until I found a room with a fireplace. I happily sank down into a comfy chair with an "Oomph" and turned my hands to the fireplace. My last few minutes of solitude before the Games were spent thinking about what I would do once I was thrown into the Arena. I closed my eyes and a single tear slid down my face as I said to no one, "I will come home. I have to."
***********
As the train pulled into the station I heard a deafening applause. Through the window I saw outrageous outfit after outrageous outfit. Smiling faces beat down on me like the sun and I was disgusted by their cheers, their thirst for blood appalling. Then I remembered that I needed them when I was thrown in the games. I slowly stretched a smile on my face and waved to the monsters.
