Aisha and I went to sit at the local dinner to get some breakfast and things we silent after we ordered.
"Listen, I know you don't like me..." Aisha finally spoke up.
"I never said I didn't like you I just didn't like your attitude the minute you stepped foot in my house, you sleeping with my father and everything since. You were trying to take my place is how I felt." I said.
"I would never do that but I never knew you existed so you can't blame me for being protective over Clay." Aisha said.
"But once you knew I existed you never stopped, you kept going. I just want to know why." I said and she sighed.
"In this life you can never hold anything too close in fear of it being taken away. You know that was well as I do. Clay is all I have, I have no family left to go to, everyone I have ever let in, is gone. Clay was what I had and then he came here and I wasn't sire when we were walking in to. I put my guard up around you not wanting Clay to get hurt, I was willing to protect him anyway I could." Aisha explained and I sighed.
"And I was mad because you were so assertive, I never had anyone in my life be like that. What you need to understand is the only thing I remember with my dad was him with my mom. I know things are tense and I know things aren't like we would all like them but I would really like it if you and I could try to get along." I said and she nodded. She extended her hand across the table and I looked at her oddly.
"Hey, I'm Aisha, I work with your dad. Also, I am dating him." Aisha said and I shook her hand as we both gave a small laugh.
"Nice to meet you Aisha, I'm Shane, my dad's pride and joy...at least I think." I said and she laughed.
"Oh you are, trust me." Aisha said and I smiled.
"Now, since we are done talking about that and coming to a truce...can we maybe talk about you and Jake?" Aisha asked and I groaned.
"There is no me and Jake." I said and she shook her head.
"But you want there to be." Aisha said and I sighed.
"I thought he wanted it like I think I do but when dad caught us together on the couch after we fell asleep Jake was very adamant there was nothing there." I said and Aisha sighed.
"Sometimes I hate working with all men, I swear to god they make everything more complicated." Aisha said and I laughed.
"You know men always say women are more complicated but they are so dumb and stupid, it's clearly them." I said and Aisha nodded. Our food was delivered and we started eating.
"If it makes you feel any better I gave Clay and Jake what for once you left about women and how we deserve to be treated." Aisha said and I smiled.
"Thanks." I said with a smile. "Do you think it sunk it?" I asked and she sighed.
"Highly doubt it. You know how things go over guys heads." Aisha said and I nodded. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket and I pulled it out.
MAX: Hey I really enjoyed dinner the other night. Was wondering if we could do it again soon. I know the anniversary of your mom's death is coming up.
I sighed and gave a small smile.
"Someone special?" Aisha asked and I laughed.
"No. Just the guy that I met for dinner the other night wanting to meet up again. The anniversary of my mom's death is coming up and he wants to get together again.
"Are you going to?" Aisha asked and I shrugged.
"I don't know." I said and put my phone back in my pocket. We went back to eating and I sighed.
"Thanks for this." I said and Aisha looked at me.
"For what?" Aisha asked.
"For this. For coming to me and wanting to talk. I know it took a lot and we are both hardheaded so thanks for folding first." I said and we both laughed.
"Don't expect it to happen again." Aisha said.
