We Thought He Was Dead?

A few days later I was getting ready to go take care of Martin when my cellphone rang.

"Hello?" I answered on speaker phone since I was doing some makeup.

"Hey, we haven't heard from you recently." Ariel said and I groaned knowing she was with Callie.

"Yeah, sorry things have been a little crazy lately." I said and then sighed knowing what I just said.

"Oh yeah, like what?" Callie asked.

"Well, I got some new patients I'm taking care of and...I started seeing someone." I lied on all accounts.

"What?!" They both screamed.

"Can you not scream?" I asked and they sighed.

"Why didn't you tell us?" Callie asked.

"Well, it's new and I just wanted to see where it would go." I said.

"When do we get to meet him?!" Ariel asked.

"You don't. Not yet any way. I want to make sure this is going to last." I said.

"Okay makes sense, don't want us scaring him off if he is skittish." Ariel said and we all laughed. There was a knock on my bedroom door opened it then opened and I looked to see Jensen standing there and I gave him the hush sign and he nodded.

"Hey girls, I have to go okay. Martin is waiting for me and I need to get there." I said.

"Okay well dating someone or not we want to come over soon for some wine and pizza." Ariel said and I looked at Jensen who had raised eyebrows and a smile.

"Soon, love you both." I said and hung up before they could answer. I looked at Jensen.

"Boyfriend?" Jensen asked.

"Only way to keep them away from coming over." I said and he nodded.

"Don't want us to meet your friends?" Jensen asked and I shook my head as I slipped on my shoes.

"Uh no they think my dad is dead." I said and he sighed.

"Hey, you told a lie you thought would be easier." Jensen said and I nodded. He was taking me to Martin's and was going to wait in the car so I didn't have to explain him. I said goodbye to everyone and we left.

*****CLAY POV*****

A couple days later Shane was at the store grocery shopping and we all stayed at the house. We didn't want to tell her but we were searching for someone and her place was a great place to lay low until then. I saw Jensen texting on his phone and smiling.

"Who are you texting?" I asked him and his head snapped up and looked at me.

"What?! No one!" He said and Pooch looked over his shoulder but he hid his phone screen.

"Must be a girl, he doesn't want you guys to see it." Aisha said and he glared at her.

"Is it Shane?" I asked.

"What?!" Jensen asked.

"Don't act like you and Shane haven't been getting close. Are you texting Shane?" I asked. Before Jensen could answer there was a knock on the front door. I wasn't sure who it would be but I walked to the door and I knew I had seen them before in pictures throughout her house. I opened the door and they looked at me like they had seen a ghost.

"Is Shane here?" The one asked.

"No, she is shopping. I'm Clay, her dad. You must be Ariel and Callie, she has told me so much about you." I said inviting them in. They looked around to everyone. "These are some work colleagues of mine. Pooch, Cougar, Aisha and Jensen." I said introducing them all and they all nodded.

"We didn't mean to just drop by but we hasn't seen Shane lately." Ariel said.

"Right, that's most likely on us." I said and the girls nodded. I then looked at them. "She should be back soon, right Jensen?" I asked.

"Yeah she just said give her 10 minutes." Jensen answered and then groaned. This now proved he and Shane were texting.

"We talk later." Clay said. The girls walked in and started talking to everyone.

*****NORMAL POV*****

I pulled in my driveway and I saw a car outside my house.

"Fuck..." I groaned and honked my horn. The side door opened, Jensen and Cougar came walking out.

"Thanks guys...when did the girls get here?" I asked.

"About 15 minutes ago." Cougar said and I groaned. I walked in the house.

"Hey...a call would have been nice." I said to Ariel and Callie.

"Let's unpack your groceries." Callie said grabbing my arm and pulled me into the kitchen. Once we were in the kitchen both girls looked at me..

"Okay first of all, you told us he was dead!" Ariel said.

"And for my life he usually is! He has to be." I said and they sighed.

"Why not tell us the truth?" Callie said and I sighed as we started to put everything away as Jensen brought in the last bag. I smiled at him and he walked out.

"I didn't tell you the truth because I didn't think it would be needed. With his life and job it's hard to trust people. I'm sorry." I said and they just sighed.

"So the boyfriend storyline?" Callie asked.

"Not true. No boyfriend." I said and they just shook their heads.

"Now, I'm changing the subject..." Ariel said and I looked at her.

"What?" I asked.

"Jensen?!" She said and I rolled my eyes.

"What about him?" I asked.

"Oh come on, you now you think he is cute." Callie said and I just shrugged and took a quick peek at him sitting at the dining room table on his laptop showing Clay something.

"Oh come on! You were texting him while you shopped!" Ariel said and I just shrugged again.

"He's a nice guy but I don't want to get involved with him or anyone right now. You can now all see why." I said and they groaned.

"Well your dad thinks something is going on between you two so if their isn't I would squish that." Callie said and I nodded.

"I will, don't worry. You guys staying for dinner?" I asked and they looked at each other and nodded.

"Obviously! We want more time with your dad and get some stories." Callie said.

"And if Jensen is far game..." Ariel said.

"Stay back Ariel, seriously. You don't want to get mixed in with all of this." I said and she sighed.

"Fine." She said as we walked out of the kitchen.

"Okay well the girls are staying for dinner, so I say we order in pizza or Chinese." I said and everyone nodded.
