It had been a couple weeks since I had my breakfast with Aisha, and it was annoying the house that we were now on each other's side in the house. Jake and I hadn't really talked or discussed what we were. He was steering clear of me, and I was steering clear of him, that was until today.
"What do you mean most of you are leaving?" I asked my dad as I watched him pack as bag in his room.
"We have something we need to check out and Jake needs a home base for tech, so he is staying here." Clay said and I groaned.
"Dad, please..." I begged and he sighed.
"Shaney, is this about your concern for me or your issue with Jake?" Clay asked and I groaned.
"More for you but yes Jake plays a part." I said and Clay sighed with a small smile.
"Just have Ace attack him if he becomes a jerk." Clay said.
"Can't Ace and Jake are best friends now." I said and Clay laughed.
"Well, my dear daughter, you will just have to be a grown up." Clay said and I groaned.
"Yeah...." I said and we headed downstairs. Clay walked outside to load his bag in the van, I grabbed Aisha's arm before she could walk out.
"You know to keep him safe. I don't want to have to kill you for getting him killed." I said and she nodded.
"I know Shane, we will be back in a few days." Aisha said and I nodded as everyone, but Jensen left. I closed the door and headed into the living room. I looked in the dining room and saw Jensen setting things up.
"You need anything?" I asked him and he sighed.
"Actually yeah, can you come help with some cords." Jake said and I nodded. I walked over to him, and he just handed me a whole bunch of cords to hold, and he just took them from me when he needed them. Once he was done, I went to walk away and before I noticed I was tangled in a cord and almost feel but Jake caught me. He pulled me back to him and I noticed how close our faces were.
"Thanks." I said and he smiled. He didn't release me right away and I just looked at him. "Jake..." I said and he sighed and let me go.
"Sorry Shane." Jake said and I just went to walk away and stopped.
"You know what, no. I don't accept it." I said turning around to face him and he looked at me shocked.
"What?" Jake said.
"I don't accept any apology you have given me since you have been here. I want to be mad at you." I said and Jake groaned.
"Now is not the time for this Shane." Jake said and I huffed a laugh.
"Yeah, it never is since you have been ignoring me since that morning. My house is only so big Jake. You can't hide forever." I said and I went to walk away.
"Hold up! I wasn't the only one ignoring the other." Jake said rushing over to me and stepping in my path.
"I ignored you because you were ignoring me! I wasn't going to make the first step here after how you acted that morning." I said.
"How I acted that morning? You want to know why I acted that way that morning?" Jake asked and I nodded. "I acted that way because I was up 20 minutes before you, but you were comfortable, and I didn't want to disturb you. I didn't wake you because I liked waking up with you and being cuddled with you on the couch. It was everything I had wanted from the moment I saw you, Shane. I knew I had to act the way I did because Clay doesn't want you mixed into the life, he wants you safe and I can't promise you that it will always be safe." Jake said and I groaned.
"God! I wish everyone would let me decide what's good and not good for me. My dad put me in danger my whole life. All it took was one person to know who he was, and I was in danger. I'm just so over his crap and excuses. If you want to be with me or anything, then make your move Jake! I'm right here waiting." I said annoyed. Jake just looked at me, sighed, rushed me and his lips crashed to mine, and he pushed me back against the wall in my living room.
