Audrey
We stay in the small town for three days. Luke sings to me the entire time.
On the first day, we go to local coffee shops and try to figure out which has the best latte. Luke sings into cups of coffee.
On the second day, we go on a "haunted walking tour" through all the most supposedly haunted buildings in the town. Luke whispers songs about ghosts into my ear.
On the third day, we travel to all the local parks and historical spots, and carve our initials into a tree or sign or table at every stop. Luke hums happy songs in tune with our steps.
We leave the morning of the fourth day, packing the one extra pair of clothes that we brought, along with our toothbrushes and face wash. I didn't bring makeup, or even a hair brush.
We drive home without stopping or detours. Luke makes me listen to hard rock, and I make him listen to chill indie music. We don't really talk the whole time, but it doesn't matter. We don't need constant words to keep us afloat.
When there's no one behind us, Luke kisses me at the stop signs. I drive the whole way home because I want to, not because I have to. Luke holds my free hand the entire time, and I'm smiling for every second of the drive.
When we get back to his apartment, he makes me come inside with him. "I have something to give you." I groan because I don't want anyone seeing me like this except for him, but he drags me into the elevator and through the doors of the apartment.
The guys all jump up from the couch and run to jump on him. "Lucas!" they all shout.
Once they're done, they all give me hugs and smirk at the hickeys on my collarbones. I pull the top of my shirt up.
"How was your trip?" Ash asks, always being the most considerate of the bunch.
We both smile widely (I'm smiling as big as I can, but Luke somehow smiles bigger) and tell him it was great, without boring them with the details.
I look at Luke with raised eyebrows, and he nods his head, remembering why he brought me up here in the first place. "Hold on one second!" he shouts as he runs to his room, coming back out almost immediately, as if he'd put whatever it was somewhere he could find it at a moment's notice.
When he walks over to me, the guys look at him with confused looks on their faces.
"What're you doing, Lukey?" Michael asks.
"I have something for Audrey," he says, reaching out his closed hand, and opening it, palm up. In the center of his hand is a little bronze key.
I smile. "What's this the key to?"
The guys all shout stupid things like "his heart" and "his ass." Luke shushes them. "It's to our apartment.
I grin at him, pulling him in for a kiss. "Thank you," I say into his lips. "I'd love to give you mine, but I don't have a spare one. Expect it in 2 to 3 days."
He laughs. "Can't wait."
After we kiss goodbye, and I give the guys hugs, I drive home. The second the door of my house closes, I look at key and smile wider than ever before.
I turn on Vampire Weekend and collapse onto my couch.
This is perfect.
Everything is perfect.
