The sun rose the next day, Tera woke up first and somehow had managed to get out of the dog-pile. And had walked towards the beach picking coconuts, berrys, and some watermelons.
A while later she returned to the house with the food and started to prepare it for everyone's breakfast. She had prepared it quite quickly. When she was done she had written a note and pinned it to a watermelon so it didn't blow away in the wind.
She went over to the gang as quietly as she could and woke Appa giving him a quick head pet, saying her goodbyes. Momo climbed on her shoulder and she started back towards the beach. She swimmed out into the ocean and Momo flew above her.
It's been hours since anyone had seen Tera, but they weren't worried at all because Tera had left the group a note saying that she would see them in a few days, and the sun had set and the moon had taken its place in the sky.
Aang meditates at the beach house porch in front of him are four candles, some berries, and a plate of fruit with a small cup of water.
Aang mumbles to himself, "What am I supposed to do?" He slowly falls asleep and a gust of wind blows the candles out. Aang wakes up in a trance to chanting and walks towards a mysterious island, where it appears near the sandy shore. Aang starts swimming when he reaches the water.
The next morning, the mysterious island is gone. Appa eats some hay while Sokka sits on his saddle.
"Okay, that's everything." "No, it's not. Where's Aang?" Everyone looks worried as they run to the beach house.
Zuko shouts, "Aang? Aang!" "Come on, lazy bones, let's go."
Suki and Katara run to check one side of the beach house. Sokka, Zuko, and Toph run to check the other side. Zuko opens a door, but does not find Aang. Toph shrugs to show Zuko she has not found him either. Zuko checks the porch, scratching his head. He spots Aang's staff as Katara and Suki follow him.
"He left his staff." Sokka picks up the staff. "That's so strange."
Zuko walks onto the porch with Toph. "Aang's not in the house. Let's check the beach." he turns his head toward the beach. The group ran down to the beach. Sokka quickly noticed Aang's footprints. "Look, there's his footprints." The footprints end at the water's edge, and there's only one set of footprints indicating that he never came back. "The trail ends here."
"So, he went for a midnight swim and never came back." "Maybe he was captured." Katara looks at Sokka. He examines the footprints and a small area around them. " I don't think so. There's no sign of a struggle."
"I bet he ran away again." "Uh-uh. No Toph, He left behind his glider and Appa." "Then what do you think happened to him, oh sleuthy one?"
Sokka puts his hand up to his face in a thinking pose, "It's pretty obvious. Aang mysteriously disappears before an important battle? He's definitely on a Spirit World journey". Zuko gives him a deadpan stare, "But if he was, wouldn't his body still be here?"
