Lindsey was walking back and forth across the stage, his guitar strap around his neck. He was warming up while waiting for everyone else to join him for soundcheck. John and Christine came in a few minutes later. Chris was laughing at something John said, Lindsey suddenly felt a little jealous. The two were a couple once too, but unlike him and Stevie, they were able to stay friends. Then Mick showed up, he sat down behind his drumkit, ready to go. It took another 15 minutes at least before Stevie walked in. Lindsey wasn't happy she was late, but she was alone, so that was something. Also, the last time they saw each other was two days ago and he'd missed her, so he wasn't going to make a big deal about her running late.

"Hey." Stevie smiled a little as she passed by Lindsey. "Sorry I'm-"

"It's fine." Lindsey waved it off, moving towards his spot.

The band played their usual songs for the soundcheck. At this point, they could probably do it after being woken up in the middle of the night. Small notes and adjustments were made and they were on their way out. Lindsey was the last to walk off stage. His eyes settled on Stevie and he thought, he could easily catch up with her.

"Hey." Lindsey lay a hand on her shoulder, making Stevie stop and turn around.

"Hi." Stevie replied, looking at him, waiting.

"I just... uh-" Lindsey paused to clear his throat, he scratched the back of his head nervously. "After the last show, the things I said, I didn't mean to. I know that you don't exactly like us getting into all that stuff."

"It's okay." Stevie shrugged, lowering her eyes for a second until he spoke up again.

"I meant what I said, though." Lindsey clarified. "Just that maybe I shouldn't have. I mean, your boyfriend was there and-"

"Jimmy is not my boyfriend." Stevie shook her head, her eyebrows slightly creased. "We're working together."

"Well, you understand how I might have misread that, right?" Lindsey asked, hoping that she wouldn't take it the wrong way.

"Yeah, but there's nothing going on, Lindsey. Just..." Stevie shrugged. "You know, how I get sometimes."

"Unfortunately." Lindsey nodded, feeling uncomfortable just thinking about it.

"And he went home, so you don't have to worry about it." Stevie said, giving him a weak smile. "I doubt that you two are going to run into each other any time soon."

"Oh, good." Lindsey breathed a sigh of relief. "I mean-"

"It's fine, I get it." Stevie laughed lightly, gently gripping his forearm.

"Hey, uh, listen." Lindsey said, when he felt as if she was about to turn to walk away. "Maybe we could see each other tonight? After the show?"

Her smiled widened, she gave a one shoulder shrug. "Maybe."

Maybe is not a no, Lindsey thought.  "Well, then see you later. Maybe." Lindsey added.
