Lindsey woke up the following morning with Stevie still in bed beside him. That hadn't happened for a very long time and he smiled lazily, his eyes barely open. Surprisingly, she was fully awake, sitting up with her journal in her lap, the covers wrapped around her chest. He couldn't resist running his fingers down her naked back, which made her look his way and smile.

"You snore." Stevie said closing her journal, she put it away.

"I'm sorry. I must have been exhausted." Lindsey said through a yawn as he stretched. "I haven't slept so well in months."

"That's why I didn't wake you." Stevie moved to lie down and turned on her side to face him. "It was really nice of you to stay."

"It felt like you needed someone with you." Lindsey shrugged, draping his arm over her middle to pull her a bit closer. "And I stayed true to my word, right?"

"You did." Stevie nodded chuckling lightly. "Must have been extremely difficult for you."

"Of course. I had you naked in bed and I couldn't touch you." He said, bringing his hand up to cup her cheek.

"Thank you." Stevie covered his hand with hers and he shifted closer to her to at least get a kiss out of their night together. "Uh-huh." She stopped him and he frowned. "I can smell the whiskey on your breath from all the way over there."

"Seriously?" Lindsey whined. "Since when's that a problem?"

"Since I have already brushed my teeth." Stevie shrugged, laughing at his obvious frustration.

"So, you'll only let me kiss you if my breath's minty fresh?"

"Yes." Stevie nodded, laughing louder, when he rolled out of the bed and practically sprinted to the bathroom.

A subtle smile remained on Stevie's lips while she waited for Lindsey to return. She thought the night before was going to be absolutely terrible. He was pushing her buttons and the things he was saying, really made her angry, but then it all completely changed. As soon as she let her guard down and showed some vulnerability, he dropped it and was there for her trying to make her feel better if only a little. And he didn't do what he usually did, when she allowed him into her bed. Normally, he'd console her for a bit and eventually make a move to get her flat on her back, but not that night. She felt safe, wrapped in his arms, his quiet humming lulled her to sleep in no time. What the hell was that?

Lindsey was back in bed in about five minutes and Stevie didn't resist when he pressed their lips together, gently at first, before he coaxed her into opening her mouth, his soft touches worked well in persuading her.

Unfortunately, the kiss didn't last long. Stevie slowed them down, she pecked him on the lips a few more times and pulled back. She knew, he was disappointed, but he didn't push it either, seemingly content with at least being able to hold her.

"You should go back to your room." Stevie sighed, lightly scratching his chest with her nails. "I'm sure you're girlfriends worried. And pissed." She added.

"She knows what she is and what she isn't, Stevie." Lindsey said, thinking, just say the word and she'll be gone.

"We've got to get up soon anyway. We promised to meet with the others, remember?" Stevie pointed out. "And then it's time for soundcheck."

"Yeah." Lindsey nodded, telling himself that she wasn't just trying to get rid of him. "I'll see you later then, I guess."

Stevie nodded and smiled, she didn't reject him when he kissed her again. "In a couple of hours." She said, watching as he unwillingly pulled away.
