Stevie wasn't fully awake yet, but she was no longer in deep sleep either. Something or someone was disturbing her rest. She felt a light pinch, then a tickle and she frowned, pulling the covers up higher.
"Okay, I've tried waking you up nicely, but that's not working out so well." Lindsey said and received no response. "Stevie, come on." He lay his hand on her shoulder and shook her gently.
"I have absolutely nowhere to go, Lindsey, so back off." Stevie groaned, attempting to roll over onto her other side, but he stopped her.
"Well, that's where you're wrong, baby." Lindsey smiled, when she opened her eyes slowly. "I realize now that I haven't completely thought this through, but we're going to Hawaii in a couple of hours." Her eyebrows creased, she was unsure if she was really awake. "Surprise?"
"What the hell are you talking about?" Stevie cleared her throat and asked, she sounded a little hoarse. "I've just finished recording my album, I'm staying right here."
"I know, you have. This is my gift to you. I know, you worked really hard on it." Lindsey said, cupping her cheek, he brushed his thumb over her skin.
"Wait, you're actually serious?" Stevie frowned, moving to sit up.
"Yup." Lindsey nodded.
"But... you could have told me yesterday! I'm not ready to go." Stevie shook her head. "And in a couple of hours? Are you insane? I need to pack and-"
His hands cradled her face and he pulled her in for a kiss, which was the nicest possible way to shut her up. "It's a vacation, not a fashion show. I've packed for the both of us while you were asleep. Besides, you won't be wearing any clothes most of the time anyway." He smirked while she stared at him blankly. "You can look through your suitcase, but I'm pretty sure, I've put all your essentials in there."
"Lindsey, are you serious?" Stevie asked again.
"Yes." Lindsey emphasized, laughing. "Now get your pretty butt out of bed and get ready."
Lindsey from a year ago wouldn't have even thought of doing something like this. Stevie was a little speechless as she offered him a small smile and scooted to the edge of the bed to land her feet on the floor.
Feeling pretty proud of himself, Lindsey went to check if he had really gotten everything packed, while Stevie was in the bathroom. They hadn't had a proper vacation together in years and the last time they did, they were probably still broke and he couldn't give her much more than a small hotel room not too far from where they lived. He was excited about some time off and he couldn't be happier that he was about to enjoy it with her.
Twenty or so minutes later, Stevie returned and Lindsey couldn't take his eyes off her. She never believed him, but he loved her the most in her everyday attire, no makeup, no expensive jewelry, her hair loose and wild. He only realized that she was standing in front of him, when their faces were inches apart and her arms were locked around his neck.
"Hey." Stevie smiled, standing on her tiptoes, she pressed a kiss to his lips.
"Hey." Lindsey echoed, his hands settled on her hips. "You're not pissed or anything, right?"
"No and I'm sorry for my reaction. I had just woken up." Stevie gave him an apologetic look, he shook his head slightly.
"Nothing to be sorry about." Lindsey assured. "I was fully prepared for that." He teased, capturing her lips once more.
"Thank you. You always know exactly what I need, when I need it." She pulled herself closer to him and his arms wrapped around her back. "I love you so much."
"I love you, too." He said, kissing the top of her head. He then drew back a little, holding her at arm's length. "We still have time for coffee."
"See?" Stevie smiled. "What I need, when I need it."
