Chapter 28

" You hear me? You stay with Mr. Blouse. " Emma crouched down to her two children, holding their shoulders and squeezing them in a comforting manner after their eyes began to glimmer and tears began to fill them. " He'll get you to safety. " She glanced up at Mr. Blouse from her crouching position, she sucked in air before wrapping her arms tightly around the two. " I love you. " It was soft, she heard them whisper it back and their tiny fists curl around her clothing. " Now go. I'll be back, I promise. " Nicolo watched the small family. " I want to stay with you. " Isabel hand's dripped Emma's bloodied shirt. Emma grabbed her hand, trying to rip her hands from her clothing so they could get them to safety. She had shook her head at the girl who screamed and yelled once Nicolo grabbed the girl's wrist and softly pulled her away. She let out the breath she was holding. They tripped over their feet once they were taken away, they shared worried glances back at her before they disappeared behind the door. She turned back to Armin, Mikasa, Jean, and Conny who all looked at her with saddened expressions. " Don't say it anything. " She pushed past her friends and up towards the stairway. 

" Don't move, I'll shoot! " Emma scoffed, staring up at the man from a few steps below, she clicked her tongue in annoyance, he pointed the shotgun at her and narrowed his eyes. " This area is under the authority of the Yeagerists. " She slowly walked up the steps, his eyes widened the tiniest bit and he held the gun to his chest, pointing it away from her. " I can't allow you to- " She kicked his leg out from under him, he yelled In pain and fell to the floor. " Stand down Cadet. " She kicked the shotgun away from the fallen soldier and stepped over his body. " Open all of these cells right now! That is an order! " 

She hated the feeling of bossing people around, hell, she was even against the idea of helping Eren. He dug his own grave, and she wouldn't be the one digging him out. She hated Eren and everything he did to ruin her life. She cringed every time she demanded they opened the cells to free the Garrison and Military Police,  but they did free everyone. 

" Commandant Shadis? What happened? " She opened the door to a certain cell to find Keith Shadis, sitting on the floor, badly beaten. He looked like he had gotten in a bad fight, and lost. " Emma, I picked a fight with a bear. " She ran to his aid, hoping to help him up, though he had put up a hand to stop her from doing so. " Forget you saw me here all right? Just go. " She scoffed, grabbing his arm and pulling him from the ground, he winced but stood on his feet. " Have you seen Hanije, or-" 

" No. I'm afraid she was taken a long while ago, and your boyfrie- "

" Husband. " She corrected, she twiddled the ring around her finger.  " Nowhere to be found. "

Emma crossed her arms over her chest, scrunching her nose before strutting over behind Conny who was gearing up for battle. She yanked one of the swords from behind him. Their plan was to make her titanize and help Eren hand to hand. They hadn't given her a sword, rather they thought it was useless and wanted her to rely mostly on her magic titan powers. She didn't even want to help Eren, he caused this mess, almost all of it. They kept hearing the loud explosions echo from outside. It was time to save the day, kinda. 

They were armed from head to toe in thunder spears, her heart was racing, and her fingers curled around her harness. Her eyes fell at the scene ahead of her and she almost felt as if she could shed tears ahead of her, it was like the walls fells again. Shinganshina had fallen ahead of her, as if she was 10 years old again. " So uh, what I can see. Eren is doing just fine. It's Reiner who needs help. " Emma whipped her head around, her back turned towards the scene ahead of her, her breathing stopped and her eyes almost popped out of her head. " What the hell. Zeke's here? But how? Captain Levi wouldn't have released him for anything. There's no way! " 

" Hey! What happened to Levi and Hanije! " Yelena stood with her back turned to the five. " I think that we can assume that Zeke defeated them. He's promised to meet Eren here and so that's what he did. No one could've made him break his vow. " Seconds almost passed before Emma ran forward, tugging Yelena down with the broken stone wall. Yelena was thrown back, Emma looked as if a screw was loose in her head. " Tell me you're lying! " She shook Yelena who just smirked at her panic response. " Zeke is here? Is he not. " Her eyes drifted towards the right where Zeke stood over the wall from just behind them. Emma felt like throwing up, her chest tightened and her eyes widened in a panic. Suddenly Yelena was thrown back by a fist to her cheek, her face flew to the side and she fell agasint the wall behind her with her hand holding her swollen face. Then she jumped, off the side of the building and away from her family. Yelena's eyes were wide with shock before her lips began to lift in amazement. " I never knew she had it in her. "
