Never A Burden

Normal Austin. Mikey needs love. It shows in the series how he's not actually happy. He might have smiling depression. He wants to be better so he tries more, it's like his brother he doesn't notice him when he does good most times. And with the ADHD stuff Smiley talks about, it's actually how I am. I have severe ADHD, anxiety, and depression. That shit don't mix well.

How the two met was awkward to say the least.

Austin was bleeding out and slipped into the sewers to heal up. He had a safe spot years ago in the sewers, but right then all he was focusing on is: I'm in pain and I'm bleeding. He held the large wound on his side as he ran funny through the tunnels. He tripped a lot of perimeter alarms but he was losing too much blood to care. "Shit shit shit!" Blood got on the walls and he was leaving a trail. He turned the corner and saw the safe spot. His well trusted friend lived there.

"YOSHI!" He yelled. "Oh shit." He fell to the floor with a loud thud. Four turtles surrounded the bleeding out male.

"We have to help him!" Donnie started working on Austin's wound.

"What is going on here?" Master Splinter said. He saw the male and his eyes widened. "Austin!" He made his way over and looked for a heartbeat. He let a sigh of relief when he felt the beat was slow. "Donatello, keep his heart from beating." They looked at him crazy. "Now!"

- A few hours later -

"Ugh..." Austin sat up painfully and looked around. "Yoshi? YOSHI!?" Austin fell off the table and he quickly got up. He held his bandaged side and rushed out of the lab. "YOSHI!? HAMATO YOSHI!?" Austin yelled. Master Splinter rushed out and Austin ran and hugged in. "I was so worried. We lost contact for years." Splinter rubbed Austin's back. Austin stepped back was a smile. His left arm was casted, his left side was heavily bandaged, he has bandaids on his check and nose, his right hand was wrapped, his right leg was bandaged, and his left foot was wrapped.

"It's has been a while." Different weapons was pointed at Austin. Austin smirked.

"Ah. So you're dad now?" Austin smiled and turned around. "Thanks for keeping my heart from beating. You remembered my condition! That's so sweet." Austin smiled at Splinter.

"Who are you freak!?"

"How do you know Master Splinter!?"

"WHY ARE YOU GREY!? AND HOW ARE YOU SO BUILT!?"

"Why can't you let your heart beat? Logically, a person cannot live without their heart beating."

Austin fell to the floor from laughing too hard. "Ow! Ow! This is so funny but it hurts! Ow! I think one of my ribs are broken. That one didn't heal yet." Austin laid on the floor. "I helped ya dad find this place. I was helping him by fighting the robot dudes. Oh wait! Ya guys were the cute little babies!" Austin sat up too fast. "OW!"

"You really shouldn't be moving." Donnie helped him up. Austin waved him off.

"I've had my entire rib case broken before. I'm fine! Plus after I got Yoshi here, I had to leave. We lost contact for years but I'm back. Got my butt kicked trying to get here and I got my side ripped open. Turns out I'm really not made for making portals." He gave a pained laugh and then passed out.

- the next day -

•Austin's pov•

"Yo where am I? Oh yeah, Yoshi's." I sat up and looked down. "I need clothes. I don't think walking around in my boxers is a sight to wake up to." I stood up and took the bandages off. I have a slight scar on my side but it should heal completely in two days. My death scars were showing. A deep one in the middle of my chest and six on my stomach.

"Oh you're.... Up...." I turned around to see the orange one. I smiled at him.

"Ya have clothes I barrow?" I asked. "It's kinda cold in here." I joked as I rested my arm on his shoulder. His face was red and someone coughed. We turned to see the blue one. "I know what it looks like but it's not." I moved away. "Anywhizzle, it's extremely breezy here." The blue one left.

"I was given this." He said as he walked over with a duffle bag.

"MY BAG!" I ran over with a smiled. "I left this here for what turns out to be you guys now. I had a lot of food and water in here, I also had spare clothes and first aid." I pulled out worn blue jeans and put them on. "I'm Austin Jean by the way." I put on a grey t-shirt, socks, and black shoes.

"I'm Leonardo but my family calls me Leo. The one in the red mask is Raphael but he goes by Raph. The one in the purple mask is Donatello but we call him Donnie." I nodded.

"And I'm Michelangelo but call me Mikey!" I laughed as I grabbed a familiar hoodie. My smile dropped.

"You remind me a lot of my cousin. You both would've got along great. This was their hoodie." I put it on with their ripped up scarf. "They always wore the scarf." I gave a lopsided smile. "Well Mikey, I saw ya got a TV and games. Wanna see if ya can beat me?" He perked up and ran to the couch.

"Mikey's a lot to handle so I would be -"

"Don't you dare finish that sentence." I glared at him. "He's just enough. Ain't too much, ain't too little." I turned to Mikey and ran over.

They were 14 at the time and I stayed with them through all of their crazy adventures. I was always defending Mikey and was the only one who listens.

Right now I'm pissed. Like "I'ma kill someone" angry. A mission when wrong and they were yelling at Mikey. I... I snapped.

"SHUT UP!" I yelled. "SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP!" I stood in front of Mikey. "ALL YOU EVER DO IS YELL AT HIM! STOP ACTING LIKE EVERYTHING IS HIS FAULT!" I yelled. I heard a thud behind me. "YOU NEVER LISTEN! YOU'RE NEVER THERE! HE'S NOT THE HAPPY GO LUCKY KID YA THINK HE IS! SO SHUT UP!" I couldn't stop yelling.

"Yeah nd obviously ya don't understand ADHD." I turned around. Smiley in all their masked glory. "When we see somethin shiny or bright, the first instinct is ta touch it. We can't help it. We don't have the best focus, we don't pay attention that well cuz of all the thoughts goin through our head, nd we act different than others. We could be more emotional than others or more childish. Just cuz we did somethin wrong doesn't mean it outweighs all the time we did somethin right.

If ya gonna be a good family then ya look at things our way. Our mentality could be a lot younger than we are. We take things a lot worse. We could overthink or we could forget it. It's never the same with us. Everyone with ADHD is different. I have severe ADHD nd I don't think, I'm more emotional, I can't stop moving, I talk a lot, nd I get distracted very easily." Smiley said with a glare as their arms were crossed.

"Smiley. Cousin, ya always know when ta drop in." I smile.

"Ya always know when ta be too angry." I rolled my eyes. Mikey hugged me while Smiley started talking to his brothers.

"I don't like how they treat ya. Ya ain't no kid. When I was your age, I had an MD-PHD and I was a doctor." I kneeled down cuz I was way taller than him.

"Thanks for always being there for me." He kissed me. I blushed and kissed him back. I swear hearts were forming around me. He pulled away and held my face. I melted in his hands.

"I love you." I gave him a lopsided smile as he kissed my lips again.

"GO GET SOME AUSTIN!" I flipped them off and pulled away.

"SHUT UP SMILEY! AT LEAST I CAN GET SOMEONE!" I glared at them and got up. Mikey grabbed my hand and kissed it. I smiled at him.

"Hey, we found something to fix your anger issues." Smiley joked and I threw a rock at them. "Hey!" I started to chase them.

"I'MA HIT YA SO HARD THAT YOU'LL WISH YA NEVER LIVED IN NEW YORK!" I yelled.

Mikey's brothers did try to listen more. Smiley would help enlighten them on what Mikey's going through. Austin would always stay by Mikey and less accidents would occur.
