I reached the office and as soon I stepped foot through the door, I knew something was awry.
Normally I would be greeted by warm and friendly good mornings, but today there was an air of sadness.
I texted Shauntrice to let her know I was close to the meeting room. Walking in quietly i slipped to Trice's side. "Welcome Ms. Joseph, now we will proceed with the matter at hand." said my boss Mr. Ervin Smith. "As you all have seen, over the last few years Ervin & Co. has not been doing well in organizing the amount of events we need to operate smoothly" he said with tears in his eyes. "It is with great sadness that the business will come to a closure and the building be sold to a law firm."
Everyone in the room gasped and started to talk all at once.
"But sir what does that mean for us?!"
"Why couldn't we have done something?"
"Lord knows I need this job to have a house over my head and food on the table for my family!"
I just stared open mouthed at Mr. Smith.
How was I going to support myself?
Lord what did I do to deserve this??
Without realizing silent tears crept down my cheeks.
"Everyone please!" "I reassure you all that you will be paid each 5 grand to keep you afloat for awhile." "That is all meeting is adjourned." With that everyone goes into a frantic and I leave to get some fresh air.
