The Red Keep, King's Landing

101 AC

"Let. Us. In, Runciter!" Rhaella roared.

"Prince Baelon is under my care—"

"He is my father and he might die! Let my children and I say goodbye if he does!" the Sky Dragon snarled.

In the end, Runciter refused to let anyone from the royal family to see Baelon. He died after five days of sickness in the Tower of the Hand of a burst belly, alone.

Oh how Rhaenyra had cried for her grandfather, along with Dorian. Dreamfyre and Vermithor personally set Baelon's funeral pyre alight.

Jaehaerys, furious, had Runciter sent to the Wall. Rhaella had wanted his head, but Viserys calmed her down.

Maester Gerardys replaced him as Grand Maester, and was instantly more popular in court than his predecessor with his open minded nature, especially since over half of his links where that of silver.

He also had a cabal of midwives and maesters who helped pregnant smallfolk with Valyrian medicine technologies.

Rhaella had found the Encyclopedias of Valyria in Visenya's chambers on Dragonstone by accident. So she decided to let Gerardys and his cabal use the Valyrian technology used to help with pregnancies to help pregnant women.

But with Baelon's death came a new succession crisis. Who would be the heir: Viserys Targaryen, or Laenor Velaryon?

In the end, Jaehaerys announced a Great Council would happen in Harrenhal to discuss the claims to the Iron Throne. The Old King would accept whoever the council chose as his heir.

And so, the lords of Westeros began to flock to Harrenhal after the royal family flew to the castle burned by Balerion.

Rhaenys nor Rhaella denied the rumors that if Viserys was chosen, Daenaera Velaryon, Rhaenys and Corly's youngest daughter, would marry Dorian. Jaehaerys didn't even bat an eye at that, having predicted a marriage between the two lines would happen.

That is today's chapter. I hope you have all enjoyed it.
