Hearing birds chirping and twigs snapping, I open my eyes. Seeing Halo was still laying there, sleeping peacefully, I take my time to get up.

Man- my neck hurts. I sit up rubbing the back of my neck. After a few minutes of silence I get up and head to a bucket we had in the corner that collected rain water and began brushing my teeth.

Everything we have we had gained, bought, stolen, or made. I kind of felt bad for stealing simple things but it's how we could live.

After brushing my teeth and cleaning out the bowl I had used to wash my mouth, I head over to the kitchen's side where Halo is. I slowly but surely pick her up.

I almost couldn't carry her, not because she was heavy, she really wasn't. She was just tall, and picking her up would mean either hitting her head with corners, or having her slip off my hands.

After picking her up I quickly make my way to her hammock. Sure to not hit her head or her legs on a column. After laying her down I slightly rock her hammock before going back to the kitchen and begin making something for myself.

I hear shuffling behind me, turning around I see Ash trying to get cookies from the table.
"...Ash..." I speak sternly making him jump. "Ah! Krensa! I was just...inspecting the table, yes" He said trying to defend his actions.

I simply shake my head and walk over to him. I sigh "You know cookies aren't breakfast". "I know but...hmph" He had no excuse.

"How about you go to the chicken coop on the second story and grab some eggs? After you eat breakfast you can eat one cookie" I speak trying to make a deal with him.

He thinks for a while, then nods and grabs a small bucket. "Thanks" I tell him before he disappeared on the ladder.

Theoden was the second one to wake up. Walking slumped to the kitchen, he looked like he had been torn apart.

"Hey, are you alright?" I say worried walking closer to him. "I'll be fine", he says mid yawn, "I just had a rough time sleeping"

"Are you sure it's just that?" I ask worried. "Yeah, I just couldn't stop thinking about what happened last night...I should've been more alert" He spoke heartbroken after sitting down on the table I had cleaned Halo's blood off of.

I sit beside him and look at him, "it isn't your fault, Theoden. None of us would've perceived he had a poisoned knife on him", he shakes his head.

"That knife was poisoned for you. They must've thought you were the only Light Elf around. Instead it got Halo and we almost lost her. You're all under my care, I wouldn't bare see one of you die while I had been able to stop it." He softly whispered.

I put my hand on his shoulder and lightly smile, "we all see you as an older brother, Theoden. But we aren't 8, 10, 13 and 15 anymore, we all have to fend for each other and for ourselves at the same time."

Both our heads look to the side at hearing Ash coming back down, feathers on his clothes and his once slicked back hair all messed up. "Can you not send me to get eggs WHILST the chickens are LAYING THEM?!" He said annoyed.

Theoden and I laughed until we cried even after Ash sat down and kept taking feathers off his clothes and tried slicking back his hair.

After our laughing frenzy, Makaela joined us on the table, looking as destroyed as Theoden did when he woke up. I quickly sat her down and started making breakfast.

"Let me guess, nightmares?" Theoden broke the silence. I could only look over my shoulder and saw Makaela nod.

"I guess we all had a rough night", "what are you guys talking about?" Ash spoke looking at all of us. We didn't know how to answer, we had completely forgotten Ash could only sleep in pitch black heated rooms and we had made him and enclosed room right beside where our hammocks were.

I turn back around to face the pot and noticed the eggs were already done. I put them on plates and serve them to Theoden and Makaela. "You might wanna eat after we tell you about what happened..."

We all sat down, Makaela and I next to Ash and Theoden slowly eating while explaining what had happened.

After explaining thoroughly as improvised as possible, Ash looked at Makaela and I. "But...is Halo okay?". We let out a sigh of relief, we thought he would've taken it down worse.

"Halo is fine, she's resting right now-" the sound of metal falling from our hammocks' area made us rush to where the hammocks were.

Halo had woken up and stubbornly tried to walk. "Halo!" I say loudly as we quickly rushed to her and stood her up, holding both her arms.

"What the hell happened?" She says sounding sleepy. "It's alright, we healed you yesterday, you're alright" I try to speak to her as her eyes were drooping.

"Actually, Krensa healed you, all we did was hold your stubborn ass down" Theoden chuckles lightly. Halo slowly falls forward, managing to put myself quickly in front of her letting her use me as support.

She groans lightly. "Let's get her back in the hammock" Makaela says, begining to help Theoden and I carry her back onto her hammock.

"Here" Ash comes from the kitchen with a cup of water, slowly putting it up to Halo's mouth. "I need to change the bandages, keep her laying down" I tell Ash as I go get the kit.

Walking back I see Theoden and Makaela getting ready to leave. "Hey, where are you going?" I ask them putting down the kit.

"We thought we'd go and see if there was any food we could buy from the market. Maybe something that's good for Halo" Makaela answered.

I stay quiet and look back at Halo, then at Theoden, "just be careful guys". "We will" Theoden answered, "anything you need?"

"Probably another med kit" I laugh lightly. "Alright, we'll be back before sundown" Makaela says before stepping out the door and closing it tightly, making sure to cover it with a wall of leaves they came up with yesterday.

I go back into the hammocks' area and lift Halo's shirt seeing the bled through gauze. Breathing deeply I take her hand for a second. "It's gonna be kind of hard doing it like this" I whisper.

"I can hold her up while you change the gauze" Ash says, "then we can lay her back down". I think for a second and nod, "alright, I'll help her stand up, you hold her when I tell you"

He nods and steps aside. Taking Halo's arm and putting it over my shoulder, I stand her up slowly, doing my best to not reopen the wound.

She hisses in pain at setting her straight up. "I know, it's okay" I reassure her as her eyes closed shut. "Ash, hold her just like this".

"Alright" He steps to her side putting one of her arms over his shoulder and his other hand just over the wound.

"Just hurry the fuck up" she whispers sternly getting a hold of the wall. "I need to do this slowly, Halo. I don't want to hurt you any more than you already are" I say while I take off the bloody gauze.

Putting water on a cloth I gently clean the wound feeling her tense up. "I know it hurts, Halo. Just a little more" I whisper.

"Um, Krensa, I think she's loosing consciousness" Ash says worried at feeling her get heavier. "Fuck it" I put the wet cloth on a chair and begin wrapping the wound with a gauze on it.

"This is gonna hurt a little so bare with me" I say before pulling the tape around her torso to be more tight. I suddenly felt her hand on my wrist, holding it as if there were no tomorrow.

"It's okay, I'm done, it's done now" Grabbing her hand I put her other arm over my shoulder. "Let's go get you something to eat" I say before helping Ash carry her over to the kitchen, sitting her down and finding something that wouldn't be that hard to eat, but wouldn't leave her hungry at the same time.

I just hope the others are doing alright.
