Songbirds- Sophie POV

Sophie saw the alarm on Keefe's face, as they both registered the voice. It was Cassius his dad. Sophie sat up fully smoothing out her clothes, she stood offering her hand to Keefe. He grasped it riding her pull he stood up. 

"You have two friends spending time together," Keefe responded.

"Friends, right...Friends don't kiss you know that Keefe." Cassius said.

"What's it matter to you, if we had kissed?" Sophie said. Cassius chuckled, at her and smiled.

"Why would you kiss my son, or even remotely want to be with him, He's a troublemaker-"

"I'm going to stop you there, Keefe might be your son but he's not you. So if I want to kiss him I can. I don't care if he's a troublemaker or whatever, he's awesome. Because frankly, that makes them have more depth than being a perfect goody two shoes." Sophie said angrily. 

"So, you want him and not Fitz?" Cassius asked raising a brow and crossing his arms.

"Fitz is like a brother to me, and what's it to you if I want your son." she scoffed

"Well, you go to Exillium. I want what's best for my son, you are not what's best, so I forbid you from coming near him." He said meeting her eyes.

"If you think Exillium is an insult, know this. I chose to go there. And no one can tell me who my friends can and can't be." She said stepping up to him and getting in his face, showing she wasn't intimidated.

"We'll see about that won't we," he said turning and walking away. Sophie smirked and turned back to Keefe, she wrapped him in a hug, waiting for him to relax. When he did, she held her home crystal up.

"I guess I should get home before Edaline and Grady get worried," she said smiling at him.

"Okay, I uh guess I'll see you tomorrow, for training, Bye, Foster," he said meeting her eyes and smirking, Sophie rolled her eyes and leaped home. 

She walked into the house and headed to her room. She flopped onto her bed and stared at her ceiling. She thought about the events. She and Keefe had almost kissed, and Cassius seemed to think she wasn't a good influence, but she wasn't going to listen, to Mr. snooty pants, he could snuff a gulon for all she cared. She rolled over falling asleep.

Sophie floated up Levitating, she sat next to Tam and Linh, and Ruy was closer to her than usual. Her stomach cramped, and she fell to the ground she, sat up and levitated up again. She hadn't slept that well,  waking up in the middle of the night several times. 

"Lunch," Coach Bora said, all of them gently touching the ground and walking out of the tents to get lunch. She went passed and felt someone grab her arm. She turned it was Ruy. 

"Gisela says, that you can't do training at Candleshade today, so you'll train with me," he said

"Oh yeah, well I have things to do-"

"Nope she said it's not optional you've already skipped once, you can't again. Unless you prefer the consequences but I wouldn't want that. If I were you." he said releasing her arm and going out to get food. She got her lunch and joined Tam and Linh.  They sat silently chewing their lunches. 

A whistle signaled the end of lunch and, they went back to their tents and worked on telekinesis.

Sophie raised her home crystal to go home but Ruy came over and grabbed her wrist, as she leaped home. They materialized at Havenfield and she spun kicking him in the shins. 

"I have plans today I'm not doing training," she said.

"Cancel them," he said pulling her Imparter from her pocket and handing it to her. 

"They don't use Imparters," she said wrenching her arm free and pulling a crystal out that Tam, had given her, she hurried away and leaped when she was far enough from him. She opened her eyes and saw Tam. 

"Hey, I thought you were gonna change?" Linh said from the river.

"Yeah I was but Ruy was being annoying," she said.

"Ruy?" Tam asked

"He's friends with Gisela, she wants to train me or something, and he was trying to get me to go to my training with him," she said shrugging her shoulder. "I'm rebellious person what can I say."  

"What should we do, now?" Linh asked splashing Tam in the face with water..

"Revenge, on someone!" Tam said grinning. 

" we could go swimming" sophie suggested grinning she had an idea.

"Sure!" Linh exclaimed, "I should have a swimsuit for you to borrow, Soph."

Sophie followed Linh, happy when her swimsuit fit.  They ran to the nearby lake and jumped in swimming around as they waited for Tam. He finally joined them. Jumping in the water, he swam over and dunked Sophie she did a flip and yanked him under before she joined Linh to act innocent. 

He popped up and glared at sophie but before saying anything a wave hit him. Leaving him sputtering. 

They climbed out of the water drying in the sun, 

" we should play songbirds," Tam said with a grin.

" sure what's that. 

" we try to guess things about humans, and what they like, the name means nothing"  Linh said

" okay, yeah sure" Sophie said.
