Two years later...
Junkyu POV
I groaned as I reached for my phone on the nightstand to shut the alarm off. I stretched all my four limbs and rolled to the left side of the bed then to the right like a shrimp being coated in breadcrumbs. It was nice to have a big bed for yourself for this purpose.
I wanted to stay longer in bed but I have my routines to follow and so I hopped off and dashed to the bathroom, wincing slightly as I accidentally stepped on Hikaru's bath toy. I quickly washed my face, brushed my teeth and headed to the gym.
Yes, gym. After slacking off for approximately eight years, I began to exercise again like how I used to when I was still single. Not that I'm not single right now, but...you know what happened.
It took me a year after my divorce to finally get myself on track. I'm done with mopping and succumbing myself in grief and misery. I have three children to attend to and a company to run, and my own self to please. I've decided to be happy and care for my own well-being, including getting myself in shape, hence the gym.
I spent a generous hour in the gym, burning my fats and building muscles, especially on my tummy. Alcohol intake on an old guy seriously won't leave your sexy abs alone. I was drenching in sweats when I'm done and I needed that electrolyte drink.
"Good morning, Ahjumma." I greeted my house helper as I stepped into the kitchen, dabbing a small towel hung over my neck on my face.
Shim Young-eun, the helper, flashed me a smile as she tossed a rice-filled pan on her hand, making the rice fly in the air before the pan caught it again and there's smoke swirled above the rice. "Good morning, Junkyu-ya. Have a good sleep?" She asked.
"Thankfully." I replied as I opened the fridge. "What's new?" I asked, taking a bottle of cold drink and popped the lid. I closed the fridge after I found nothing interesting to munch and took a seat on the kitchen island stool.
"Is finding out your daughter-in-law pregnant for the fifth time considered as new?" She stifled a laugh, looking at me over her shoulder as she moved around the kitchen to get coffee for me.
"New to the idea of using contraception next?" I chuckled in amusement. One can't have too many children, it appeared.
"I know right. Good for nothing but to breed." She turned around, placing one hand on her waist and tsked. "I seriously don't know what they were thinking. It's not as if everything gets cheaper by day." She added, shaking her head. She returned to the coffee maker as it made a low clicking sound.
"Hmm. You can go home this weekend, by the way." I informed, trying to distract her from the not-so-good good news.
"Oh, I forgot it's that weekend." She pointed out. I hummed and watched as she pushed a cup of coffee to me.
Youngeun has been with us since my divorce. She lives with us, at a separate corner behind swimming pool. One that previously housed Hikaru's nanny. At first, I planned to hire Youngeun only for a year until I can get a grip of all changes. That time I still had the idea that I can do everything by myself, my divorce won't affect me at all, and I'll be that perfect parent with or without Haruto.
But then I realized having a helper won't make me less of a perfect parent, well, no such thing as perfect parents anyway. And me chasing that so-called perfection was the cause of my divorce, sort of. I was too focused on running the family with a role that I defined myself and failed to see it wasn't what my family needed or what I needed.
Who cares about dirty laundry if I can't clean the dirt inside my ex-husband's head? Who cares about molded bathroom if I can't scrub his worry off his mind?
