Haruto POV
"I think he's upset, Pa." Ruto uttered as he leaned in and whispered in my ear.
"I don't think so. Is he?" I asked as I tilted my head and watched my son shrug.
We both turned our heads and looked at Junkyu Hyung who had been sitting with legs laying straight across the sofa in the living room and glaring at the glass wall. His hand had been resting on the sofa backrest as he watched the snowflakes fall down, while his other hand mindlessly twirling the edge of a blanket that was covering half of his body.
Ruto chuckled and walked to sit on the sofa next to Junkyu Hyung who's entire aura changed almost immediately. His glare had been wiped off completely and was replaced with a smile as he spread the blanket over them both before he ruffled Ruto's hair. My son scooted closer to him and rested his head against his shoulder as Junkyu Hyung sighed and looked back to the wall.
More than a week had passed since he fell down the stairs and sprained his ankle, to which his doctor had advised him that it would be best to limit his activity until it completely healed. And I totally stop him from doing any housework.
Suffice to say, Junkyu Hyung had not been pleased to hear that. He went on to have an hour rant on how he didn't see anything wrong in doing small tasks and we were arguing until he gave up persuading me which ended up in his brooding in front of the wall watching the snow.
Noting how stubborn my husband is, I was completely absent from going to the office and chose to work from home instead. This way, he wouldn't get a chance to even stand in front of the sink for bloody dirty dishes. The twins fully support my decisions. They were too, much like I did, the moment they found out their dad fell from the stairs felt scared they're going to lose him. And for the past week, in order to help me to prevent their dad from moving around the house, they did everything by themselves. No more calling their dad over missing a pair of socks or over craving for their favorite snacks.
Junkyu Hyung, however, couldn't see how much he meant for us, that he meant more than his role in this household and those small tasks he did and ranted about. In his defense, he said he felt useless if he didn't contribute anything in running the family. He failed to notice he did contribute to our daily lives even when he did nothing.
For the past six years, he was our greatest support, our source of comfort. Both Ruka and Ruto would run and talk with him whenever they had problems with school or with their friends, or went to hug him when they weren't in their best mood. Although nowadays Ruka seemed to be distancing herself from us, especially after Junkyu Hyung's birthday a few months ago, it didn't erase the fact that Junkyu Hyung is her world.
As for me, I simply couldn't live without him. I could swear I don't need him to do anything. His existence alone is enough. I just need to hear his voice, see his smile, and feel his warm skin for me to go through my day. Sadly, no one could understand what I felt. Not even JeongWoo and Lyn. They think it was an obsession. That it was unhealthy. It doesn't make any sense. Why would I'm obsessed over something that's already mine?
Shaking my head at the thought, I walked to the kitchen. It was time for him to have his meds and he hated it. He said his meds make him feel sleepy. Well, as they should. Some of them work as painkillers, and besides, he needs to rest more. I made a hot chocolate for him and another one for Ruto. I put down his meds, a glass of water and their mugs on a tray.
I took the tray to the living room and handed Ruto his mug. He was smiling all too excitedly and went to turn on the TV. I put down the tray on the table and sat down next to Junkyu Hyung. I tried to hide my smirk when he looked at the tray before he looked at me as though he was asking me if the hot chocolate was my way to bribe him to take his meds. Like it or not, he knows he should take his meds, and so he reached out and took the pills and the water.
