Junkyu POV
Three hours. I still have three hours before I have to come back to reality and out from the single life utopia, and I decided to cook.
Right, I should've ordered junk food or pizza or something to embody the singleness, yet, here I am making japchae and jeyuk bokkeum with Youngeun Ahjumma.
"Ahjumma, is this enough?" I asked, straining sticky tteok with a colander after I soaked them in warm water.
She leaned over the sink and gave me a nod. "Yes, that should be enough for the amount of pork you marinated."
I stepped to the side and started to slice some carrot, onion, and cabbage while Youngeun prepared a wok and drizzled it with cooking oil. She took out a container filled with samgyeopsal I'd marinated with gochujang mixture this morning from the fridge. I was suddenly craving for a nice spicy pork belly when I woke up. Just imagining the fatty meat melting in my mouth already makes me drool.
My hands moved swiftly on the chopping board, holding a knife like a professional chef. But not really, I was nowhere near professional. A butcher, maybe. I liked chopping meat, smashing the bones with a heavy duty knife with all my strength when I was angry. It was like channeling my anger and frustration but in a productive way. I mean, I helped Youngeun save some prep time when she cooked for us.
"Kyu, I'll go now." I jumped with my knife pointing up when Noa suddenly hugged me from behind.
"Jesus Noa! What if I accidentally throw the knife!" I yelled, placing my palm over my drumming heart.
"Oops, I'm sorry." He said, not so much apologizing as he was chuckling after. I sighed and continued slicing the last carrot.
"You're not going to eat first? You just need to wait a little bit. And you still have three hours before the twins come back." I said. Like most weekends when the kids went to Haruto's place, he sleep at my home.
Leaning down, he kissed the side of my neck and rubbed my stomach from under my apron, making me shiver. "I would love to, but I promised my friend I'll come with her to this art exhibition and she's going to castrate me if I'm late." He kissed my cheek and made his way to Youngeun who was busy mixing japchae in a big stainless steel bowl on the kitchen island.
"Not with bare hand!" I turned to look at the voice of Youngeun yelling playfully. She slapped Noa's hand, but the latter still managed to snatch some noodles with his thumb and index finger and brought them to his mouth.
"I couldn't help it, it looks so good, Ahjumma." Noa chuckled, licking his thumb. "Are you open for hire? I'll die from happiness if I get to eat your food everyday." He wheedled, making Youngeun nudge his stomach with her elbow.
"Yahh! Don't try to steal her from me!" I warned, pointing my knife at him.
"See Ahjumma, aren't you scared working here? Junkyu is so barbaric." Noa said, and Youngeun chuckled in amusement as she took a look at me. "Besides, I live alone, you know. I don't mind having a beautiful companion." He added, wriggling his brows.
"God, now you're flirting with my helper." I rolled my eyes and both of them laughed.
"You should go. Junkyu might castrate you first before your friend." She jested, pushing Noa with her forearm, carefully not to touch him with her plastic glove.
Noa chuckled. "Bye-bye Ahjumma, see you again some other time." He said, not before he snatched another strand of japchae.
"Oh. Take care Noa-ssi." She replied.
Noa then strode to me. "I go now, hmm? I'll call you later." He planted a kiss on my temple. "Thank you for the weekend."
I put my knife down, quickly washed my hands and wiped them with a cloth hanging from the handlebar on the cabinet. I cupped his face and pecked his lips. "Thank you to you too."
