*SIX MONTHS LATER*
Feyre and Alicent were having tea in the Godswood. They hadn't been able to spend much time together because Alicent ... well Feyre didn't know what Alicent did anymore.
"I'm glad we're doing this," Alicent says after taking a sip of her tea.
Feyre smiled at her over her cup, "I am as well; I fear that you might have grown bored of me."
Her words cause the Hightower girl to widen her eyes, "Why would you think that?"
"You've been absent, as of late," Feyre shrugged and pulled bits of of a pastry apart, "I can't help but think that you didn't want to spend time with me anymore."
"Oh, Feyre," Alicent placed her cup down and took her friend's hand, "It's not that, I promise. My father....has me running all sorts of errands lately. I've missed you as well."
Feyre looked down at Alicent's hand and noticed that she had picking at her skin more than usual, "Your father isn't over working you, has he?"
"...I'm fine,"Alicent's eyes betrayed her words.
Feyre wanted to say more, but she knew that if Alicent wanted to tell her, she'll do it on her time. Feyre will not force her. So, she squeezed her hand in comfort.
Alicent didn't know why she liked the way her hand felt in Feyre's. She always thought that those feelings were only reserved for men, and that anything else was a sin against the Seven. It surprised her that she didn't quite give a damn. She liked it when
Feyre smiled at her and she didn't like it when Rhaenyra looked at her the same way.Feyre caught a bit of movement behind Alicent and brought her hand up to wave, "Good morrow, Rhaenyra!"
Alicent huffed and turned around to greet the Princess. Rhaenyra stomped over to the girls and plopped down between. Alicent rolled her eyes as Rhaenyra laid her head on Feyre's lap.
"What happened?" Feyre absentmindedly ran her fingers through Rhaenyra's hair and Alicent so desperately wished to that was her.
Rhaenyra sighed, already feeling relaxed, "My father denied my request of sending dragonrider's to fight in the Stepstones."
"I'm sorry, Nyra."
"And your father," Rhaenyra looked at Alicent," Suggested that I pick a new knight for the Kingsguard, so I'm stuck doing that."
"I'm sure it won't be that bad," Feyre told her, "I'll even help you."
Rhaenyra smiled and pushed herself up from the ground, "Great, let's go!"
Feyre and Alicent looked at the Princess in shock. Rhaenyra was holding out a hand to help Feyre up and all Alicent wanted to do was cut it off.
"Now?" Feyre shook her head, "I can't."
"Why not?" Rhaenyra asked, eyebrows raised.
"I'm having tea with Alicent, Nyra."
Despite her heart screaming at her, Alicent layed a hand on Feyre's shoulder, "It's alright, Feyre. I'm sure that the Princess's issue is far more important than silly tea."
Feyre tilted her head, "Are you sure?"
"Yes, I will see you soon."
Alicent watched as Rhaenyra pulled Feyre away from her. Her heart was heavy as she realized that Rhaenyra Targaryen will always be top priority for Feyre.
