Chapter Sixteen

Chapter Sixteen.

Charlie:
We get back to Elle and Tara's room and decided to head back to our school so Tara can finally see Darcy's dorm and where she goes to school. Tara, Darcy, Elle and Tao squeeze into the back seat; luckily it's not too far of a drive. We all walk to Darcy's room, open the door and are immediately greeted by her enthusiastic roommate.

"Darcy, you didn't tell me we were having so many people over. Hi everyone, I'm Amanda!"

We all wave awkwardly back and I feel her eyes locked on me.

"We met last week, right? I'm Nick."

She smiles and continues to stare at me.

"I haven't seen you around much. Do you just stay locked in your room?"
"Um, no not really. I guess Darcy usually walks to my side of the building when we hang out."
"Now that I think about it, I do always walk to you. What's up with that?" Darcy jokes.

Tara reaches out her hand to Amanda.

"Hi, I'm Tara, Darcy's girlfriend."

Amanda wraps her arms around Tara.

"Ah, I've been so excited to meet you!" She says.

Tara shoots us a confused look, but smiles as she pulls away from the hug.

"Yes, it's so good to meet you too!"

Almost automatically, Amanda looks back at me. I'm starting to think that she might be interested.

"So how's your first week been?"

I see Charlie, Tao and Elle trying not to laugh as I continue my conversation with her.

"It's been okay. I'm just really waiting for Rugby to start."
"I can tell you play sports," she blurts out.

I feel my cheeks go red as I struggle with a way to casually slip in that Charlie is my boyfriend. I slowly walk over to him as I continue our conversation.

"Yeah. I've played Rugby my whole life," I say.

Charlie can sense that I need saving and intertwines our fingers and decides to join the conversation.

"He was the Rugby king back in our high school," he says proudly. "Probably the only reason I was ever interested," he teased.

I look at him and pretend to be shocked as he sticks his tongue out at me.

"Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't know you two --"
"Don't worry about it," I say with a soft smile.
"And just in case your next target is Tao, he's dating Elle," Darcy jokes.
"Yup. Thanks for that, Darcy," she says.

Darcy shrugs.

"Just trying to help," she says.

We all hang out in the room for a little bit before I get a text from Adam asking if we still wanted to meet him for lunch.

"Hey, do you guys want to get lunch with my roommate Adam?"
"We just ate like two hours ago," Elle says.
"I mean, it's a definite yes for me," Tao says.
"That's fine, I'll just order a small lunch," Tara adds.
"Amanda, do you want to join us?" I ask.
"That sounds nice, so long as Darcy doesn't mind me tagging along."

I see Tara shoot Darcy a look and Darcy lets out a small sigh.

"No I don't mind," she says.
"We definitely need to eat on campus. I can't fit everyone in my car," I joke.

We all meet up with Adam and start walking to a nice little food spot on campus.

"Adam, this is Amanda, she's Darcy's roommate," I say.
