Chapter Twenty Five
Charlie:
Although I wanted to tell Nick that I was planning on going to the University right by him, I wanted to wait until I was accepted to do it. Now my mind is racing, worrying that I won't get in. But still, seeing Nick's face go from panic to relieved was worth this small moment of anxiety. It would be great to go where Elle and Tara go too, it would definitely help with my social anxiety. Now all I have to do is convince Aled and Tao to go to one of the two Universities, then I'd be set and nothing would ever have to change. I decide to take a nap before going back over to Nick's. Whenever we see each other now, we try to stay up as late as we can; just cherishing the time we have together before one of us has to leave. Once I wake up, I realize I slept through my alarms and have a couple of text messages from Nick.
Nick: Mum is going to start making dinner soon and is asking if you are coming :)
Nick: Well, now she's offended that you're not even answering :p
Nick: I bet you're asleep right now LOL
I laugh at the last message; he knows me so well.
Charlie: Am I that predictable?
Nick: Yeah, kind of. But only to me :p
Charlie: If your Mum's offer still stands, I can be at your house in 20 :)
Nick: Any offer that involves me seeing you, never expires xxx
Charlie: Love you xx see you soon
I get myself ready and walk over to Nick's. As always, I'm greeted by Nellie before Nick can even say hi. After getting up from the ground to greet Nellie, I look at Nick.
"Hi," I say with a smile.
He pulls me into a hug before kissing me on the cheek.
"I missed you," he says.
I roll my eyes with a smile.
"It's literally been a couple of hours. Why are you so obsessed with me?"
He playfully pushes me.
"You're someone worth obsessing over I guess. I mean, obsessing a healthy amount anyways."
I walk inside and say hi to Sarah before heading upstairs with Nick.
"Want to play some video games?" He asks.
"Oh, so you feel like torturing yourself today?" I tease.
"One of these days I'll beat you, Charlie Spring."
"I think you have me confused with Oliver."
We both laugh and start to play, with me obviously dominating every game.
"Can't you ever let me win?" He complains.
"Why would you want a win you didn't earn? Maybe one day we'll be able to find a video game that you can beat me at," I say as I stick my tongue out at him.
"Think you're a comedian today or something?" He teases.
"I feel like I'm actually pretty funny all the time, so kind of offended that you think I'm just being funny today."
"Boys, dinner's ready!" Sarah yells from downstairs.
Once we finish dinner and help Sarah clean up in the kitchen we head back upstairs.
"Are you staying here again tonight?" He asks.
"Why? Can't get enough of me?"
"Actually, I'm kind of sick of you and wanted to make sure you went home," he says as he hits me with a pillow.
Nick:
One of my favorite things about my relationship with Charlie is how we are always joking around, teasing each other and having fun. He throws a different pillow at me.
"Well fine, then! I'll just be on my way then," Charlie teases as he gets up from my bed.
Before he can even make it a step away, I throw myself forward on the bed, wrapping my arms around Charlie and pull him back onto the bed.
"Yup. I knew you couldn't let me go."
"Never."
I go downstairs to make sure Mum is okay with Charlie staying even though I know she is; she considers Charlie a member of the family. Charlie calls his parents and although they use to give us a hard time about spending the night together, it's obviously not really an issue anymore. We decide to go downstairs to watch a movie just as Mum is getting ready for bed.
"Want some hot chocolate?" I ask Charlie.
"Only if it has --"
"Marshmallows and a mountain of whipped cream? I think I know you by now, Charlie," I say jokingly.
I walk back into the living room with the hot chocolates and Charlie has already picked out a movie. I sit down next to him and smile.
"Jeez, that is a lot of whipped cream," he says.
"Is that not how you like it?" I ask with a chuckle.
"I didn't say that," he says as he goes to take a bite out of the whipped cream.
I lightly push his face so he gets whipped cream on his chin and nose.
"Looks like you're not the only comedian today," I say laughing.
"Oh you're in for it now," he teases.
He grabs the top part of the whipped cream proceeds to touch my nose and chin.
"There, now we match," he says with a smile.
We both laugh, grab a napkin and clean our faces. This has been one of the best weekends I've had and one that I think will forever be a core memory in my life. It feels so good to be home, and to be here with Charlie; just hanging out, watching movies and playing video games. These are the moments I live for, the ones I cherish the most. When I'm older and I look back on my life, it's not going to be prom or graduation; traveling to places or going to concerts and things like that, it's going to be nights like these. Between starting my day with Charlie, to spending the afternoon with my Mum and then going to sleep with Charlie; I guess you can say I feel very lucky.
