Chapter Thirty Six.
Adam:
I hear the door open and my heart immediately drops to my stomach. I thought I was really confident in how this would go but now I am not too sure. My parents walk into the room and smile.
"Adam, we didn't know you were coming home today!" They say as they pull me into a hug.
"Yeah, I came down with some friends for the break and decided to come back home a day early," I say nervously.
"Is everything alright?" Mum asks.
"Yeah, everything's fine," I say as Isabelle nudges me. "Okay, actually, I need to tell you guys something."
They both sit down on the couch across from me.
"So there's something I wanted to tell you for awhile now, maybe a few years and I wasn't really sure how to, but I think I'm ready to now."
They look at each other and then back at me, waiting for me to speak again.
"I'm bisexual."
Silence.
"And I'm dating a guy."
They both look at each other again, then get up, walk over and hug me.
"We love you son. We just want you to be happy," Mum says.
"And to play rugby," Dad joins in.
We all laugh as I let a few tears escape my eyes. Isabelle joins in on the hug. This has got to be maybe the best moment of my entire life.
"So when do we get to meet the lucky gentleman?" Mum asks.
"You already have," Isabelle chimes in.
"We have?" Dad asks.
"Yeah. Jacob. You remember him from high school?"
Mum claps her hands together.
"Yes, I remember him, what a polite young man. Easy on the eyes too."
I groan.
"Mom, please do not embarrass me in front of him."
"We all plan on doing that," Isabelle says with a giggle.
I couldn't wait to tell Jacob.
"Is he home for the break? Why doesn't he come by for dinner?" Dad asks.
I couldn't even hide the smile on my face if I wanted to.
"Yeah, I'll call him and ask right now. Mum, Dad?"
They look at me.
"Thanks for always loving me," I say as I run upstairs to my room.
I get into my room and close my door. I immediately call Jacob.
"Wow, miss me already?" He asks as he laughs.
"Well obviously. Hey what are you doing later?"
"Oh, now I'm afraid you may be obsessed with me."
I fake laugh.
"Just wanted to see if you wanted to come over for dinner."
"Won't your parents be there?"
"Yeah, they invited you."
"What do you mean?"
"What do you think I mean?"
"YOU TOLD THEM?!" He asks excitedly.
"I told them!"
"I'm assuming it went great!"
"Actually, it went terrible, that's why they're inviting you," I say sarcastically.
"Oh, I'm not the only one with jokes apparently," he says as we both laugh.
"We'll probably eat around 6. See you soon?"
"See you soon."
We hang up and I call Nick.
Nick:
Charlie and I are in the middle of watching a movie at my house when my phone starts to ring.
"It's Adam," I say.
"Oh god, I'm nervous. I hope everything went okay with him telling his sister," Charlie says.
I pick up the phone and put him on speaker.
"Everything okay?" I blurt out.
He laughs.
"Yes Mum, everything is fine," he says.
"Haha very funny. So how did telling your sister go? You're on speaker and Charlie is here by the way."
"PLEASE TELL ME EVERYTHING WENT OKAY," Charlie blurts out.
"She basically said it before I could even say it. She said she picked up on it years ago."
Charlie and I let out a sigh of relief.
"That's amazing!" I said.
"Yeah, and since that went so well, I decided that I was going to tell my parents too."
Charlie's eyes widen as we wait for him to continue speaking.
"AND?!?!" We say in unison.
"You guys really are the same, huh?" He says with a laugh. "They were great. My Mum was so sweet and honestly I don't think my Dad cares as long as I'm happy and also playing rugby."
"I'm so happy for you!" I exclaim.
"I just called to thank you guys. You really gave me the confidence to be my true self and I'll never be able to repay you for that."
Charlie and I look at each other and smile.
"We're just happy that you're finally happy all around," Charlie says.
We talk a bit more before getting off the phone.
"You know you helped him get there," Charlie says as he snuggles back to how we were before Adam called.
"I think we both did that," I say as I kiss the top of his head.
"Mostly you though. You were with him everyday. He was a complete jerk when you met him and now he's become a good friend of ours. I think that's mostly because of the affect you have on people."
I lift up his chin with my hand.
"Any particular reason you're being this sweet to me?" I ask with a smile.
He slowly shakes his head as he moves it closer to mine.
"No. I just love everything that you are, that's all. "
I kiss him slowly and run my fingers through his hair.
"I think you're trying to sweet talk me to get me into bed and it's definitely working," I tease.
"Technically, we are already in bed so --"
I cut him off by tickling him. He tries to get away but is no match. I finally stop for a second and he breaks free and jumps on top of me.
"I missed being able to do this all the time, everyday," Charlie says.
"Me too. Hopefully next year you won't be as far."
"Are you kidding me? We'll never be this far apart after this year ever again."
"Oh yeah?" I ask.
He pins my hands down.
"Yeah. You have no choice in the matter," he says with a smirk.
"Well it's a good thing I feel the exact same way then," I say.
He leans down and kisses me. He's right though. I don't think I'd be able to do another year with seeing him here and there. I just want to be with him all the time. I may be obsessed but I don't care. Charlie and I are soulmates and I wouldn't want to be doing life with anyone else by my side.
"Lets go on a little trip while I'm on break," I say.
"Where do you want to go?" Charlie asks.
"I'm going to surprise you," I say as I kiss his nose.
