Chapter Twenty One

Adam:
I cut him off by crashing his lips into mine.... and then very quickly pulling away. If I can feel how red I am, I'm sure he can see it.

"I'm so embarrassed," I say as I nervously laugh, placing my hand on my forehead.

He looks at me with a soft smile and places his hand on mine.

"I told you, we do not have to rush anything."
"I wasn't rushing, I wanted to, it's just; wow. That felt different."

His eyes meet mine.

"Good different?" He asks, hopefully.

I place my forehead against his and smile.

"Amazing different," I say with a sigh of relief.

I couldn't help but compare every single kiss I've had with this one. It's not like I wasn't interested in the girls that I've kissed or didn't have any feelings for them, because I did. I've even loved a girl before. But this, this felt freeing, it felt more me than I was ever able to feel before. It was a kiss with the first boy I've ever had any romantic feelings for. 

"It was amazing for me too, if you were even wondering," he says sarcastically, with a smile.

I throw myself back onto my bed and laugh.

"I'm sorry. I'm just lost in this moment right now. I never want to forget it," I say.
"I know I won't," he says as he throws himself back onto the bed as well.

I don't think I'll ever be able to go back after this. If it felt like this from one little kiss, I can't even begin to imagine what I've been missing. At least for right now, while I'm here at school, I plan on moving forward with being me. I turn my head to face Jacob's. I've never been one to be shy around girls, but this is all new to me.

"So do you maybe, I don't know, want to get dinner sometime?"

He sits up and looks down at me.

"Are you sure?"
"I'm not asking you to make out with me in front of a crowd or anything like that," I say laughing. "I just, I want to get to know you again; and I don't want to be confined in this room every time we see each other."

I sit up next to him.

"I don't think I'll be doing any PDA soon, but I would like to take you out," I say as I bump my shoulder into his.

He leans his head on my shoulder.

"Definitely not going to say no to that," he says.

I suddenly feel more myself than I ever have. I don't know what's going to happen down the road, like when it comes to being "out" in public, or dealing with my parents but I do know that right now, I am happy. I'd like to hold onto this feeling for as long as I can. We sit still a little while longer before Jacob needs to leave to get to class. I get up and walk him to the door.

"Want to do dinner tomorrow?" He asks before grabbing the doorknob.

I kiss him on the cheek and smile.

"Absolutely."

He goes to open the door but I grab his waist, spin him around and pull him into a hug.

"I know it probably didn't mean much to you, but know that today meant everything to me," I whisper into his ear.

He runs his fingers through my hair and squeezes me tighter.

"It meant a lot to me too."

He pulls away from the hug, smiles and leaves.

Wow.

Nick:
I decide to text Adam to make sure I won't be interrupting anything.

Nick: How's everything going over there?
Adam: YOU'RE GOING TO FREAK OUT!!
Nick: Is it safe to come home? :p
Adam: Yes you moron (:

I smile at the message and call Charlie and put him on speaker before I begin to drive.

"Do you really miss me already?"

I laugh.

"Yes, but that's not why I'm calling," I say.
"What happened?" 
"I think something with Adam and Jacob."
"SHUT UP!"
"I'm dead serious, he texted me saying "you're going to freak out!" So I can only assume something good happened."
"SO AMAZING! I need to be video chatted when you get back so I can hear everything."
"You're so invested," I say with a laugh.
"Don't act like you're not!"
"Fine, fine. I'm just as invested! I'll call you when I get there, okay?"
"VIDEO CHAT!"

I laugh again.

"Okay, video chat! I love you."
"I love you," he says as he hangs up.

I finish my drive up there and head to the dorm. When I walk in, I see Rob sitting on my bed.

"DUDE FINALLY," he says. "I've been here for ten minutes and this smiley idiot over here won't tell me anything until you got here."

I laugh but hold up my hand.

"Speaking of, Charlie will literally kill me, no, all of us, if I don't put video chat him for this conversation," I say, laughing.

Adam laughs and nods his head as I call him. Without even saying hi, Charlie answers.

"I NEED TO KNOW EVERYTHING," he screams.
"Nice, not even a hello," I say, jokingly.
"NO TIME FOR SARCASM NICK! I agree with Charlie, tell us NOW," Rob begs.

I prop my phone up so it's like Charlie is sitting with us. Adam sighs with a smile and begins to speak.

"I don't even know where to start."
"The beginning would be great," Charlie says sarcastically.
"I'm going to start with the end actually. We're going to dinner tomorrow."
"MY MAN!!!" Rob exclaims. 
"I kissed him."
"WHAT?!" We all scream in unison.

Adam laughs.

"It was a really quick tap on the lips, but I kissed him."
"Who is this guy right now?!" Rob jokes. "This is literally the best news."
"How was it?" I ask; curious to know as I remember my first kiss with Charlie like it was yesterday.

He smiles.

"Even though it was quick, it was absolutely amazing. I can't wait to kiss him again."

We all begin to make all those high school noises; the ooooo's and the ahhhhhhh's and the kissy noises.

"Okay guys you can ALL shut up now," he says with a smile.
"In all seriousness, I think I can speak for all of us when we say we are so proud of you and SO happy for you!" Charlie says.
"Thanks guys. I wouldn't have gotten to this point without you, all of you. Rob, you have been such a rock the entire time I've known you. Nick and Charlie, without seeing you two together, I don't think I would have ever gotten this far. Seeing you two love each other so freely, so happy; I just, thank you."

We all smile and have a group hug, even Charlie on the phone. This is such a great day and I'm just so happy for Adam. This year is turning out to be a pretty good one so far.
