Chapter 15- Siren

I turned my head to the movement I saw, but all I ended up seeing was a ripple. Misty and David were still talking about where to stay, I guess they didn't see it. Who knows, maybe I'm just seeing things. Then I heard a splash, we ALL heard it, I looked to my right, just in time to see a pinkish purple tail in the distant waters. "Was that a mermaid?" I asked Misty, who's eyes were still on the waters, "n-no I d-don't think so.." She said with a worried expression.

If that wasn't mermaid what was it?! "SIREN!!" Misty screamed at the top of her lungs as the terrifying creature swam towards us. I couldn't move at first, but I forced my legs to. The so called "siren" swam with lightning speed, we were in a caldera, so there was really no place to hide..

Then I saw another tail, but that tail was Aqua blue, I saw the siren plunge into action by smacking it's tail into the other tailed creature. But the tailed creature pushed her hands out, toward the siren, without touching it, then golden swirls were released from her hands. The siren's eyes were wide open, and then it swam away at top speed.

I saw the other tailed creature nearing us, she was different unlike the siren. "Now that's an entrance Gia!" Misty said clapping her hands together and hopping about. I saw Gia chuckle, and then with a magical purple swirl her tail turned into legs, and she walked right out of the water, "hello, my name is Gia, I'm queen of the mermaids." She said with a smile. As I said, she had an aqua blue tail, she also had a tiara crown thing made of shells. "You must be Loxy." She said giving me a hand to shake. "Loxy" I answered with a nod, while replying to her hand. (shaking her hand.)

She turned to David and Misty and did the same. "Here eat this, it will allow you to breathe underwater for a day." She said while handing us seaweed. I took the slimy seaweed and gulped it up, "Yuck!! It's disgusting!" I croaked, trying hard not to gag. "Well, it helps better than it tastes." Gia said while chuckling. She handed me a necklace, but this time it had a beautiful mermaid tail.

"It works just like your wing pendent." Gia said while fingering the wing pendent that's around my neck. After a couple of minor chats, she decided to show us around so we followed. She led us into the water and asked me to wish for a tail. "Wow!" I exclaimed looking at my gorgeous emerald tail with a bluish ombré.

"Wait.. I can talk under water!" I chirped, "haha, your so cute Lox!" David announced, I turned to him, actually everyone turned to him and then he did his usually blushy face with his hand in his combing through his hair."What?.." He gulped, and then we all chuckled.

The water was beautiful! With corals of all colours crowning the floor of the caldera, gorgeous seaweeds, and fishes with glimmering scales everywhere! With every turn, there was something magical to see. "This is Aquaris" Gia announced with a welcoming smile. Trust me, this must be the biggest caldera ever, at least the size of five large lakes all combined!

"Umm, what's the difference of sirens and mermaids?" I asked Gia out of nowhere, poking her on the side. "Well, sirens have evil souls, they attack mermaids and steal our fish friends. They have scales completely covering their bodies, unlike us, we have scales only on our tails." Gia explained. I mouthed the letter "o" in reply.

"Do you know how to use your tail?" Gia asked me, "oh ermm.. Nope." I answered, popping the letter "p" in nope. "Just push it up and down, and use your arms for balance. And I think it's best if you get your wings off for now." She said, I held the wings pendent and wished that my wings would vanish. 'Ok, now it's time to try my new tail' I thought. I swayed my tail up and down, with all my energy.. God it was tiring! No wonder why the mermaids have well-built bodies, this is like a workout!

"Don't worry I'm pretty sure you'll get used to it." She said with a sparkle in her eyes.
