When we reached the camp, Misty came storming up towards me, "OH MAI GAWD!! Are you okay?!" She squealed, look at my bleeding knee. "Yeah, I'm fine." I answered, "no, no no no, NO! Your not! OMG! This is all my fault!" She wailed, starting to tear up as she covered her eyes with her palms. "Seriously Mist, it's just a small scratch!" I stated, but she ended up breaking down with tears.
David put me down on a log so that I have somewhere to sit. Misty came trailing behind him and sat down next to me. "I'm so sorry Lox!" She apologised as she gave me a sweet, yet short hug, "Ow Mist! It's not your fault, anyways, I'm the one who got the wrong idea!" I reassured her. She smiled in reply and left with some excuse to remove the sand from her boots.
By now, the blood on my knee is dried, coming into a burgundy hue. "Bend your knee towards me, please." David requested, his face filled with concern. It's cute how David pouted his lips whenever he is concerned, or worried.
As I bent my knee, I felt the dried blood crack and send a sting of pain down my knee. David then, took a piece of cloth, dampened it and then squeezed out the excess water. He started to clean my wound with it, it didn't take long for the cloth to turn red, as in, blood-tinged.
Once he was done cleaning, the blood crust that covered my knee was gone, and a fresh round of liquid blood started to form. David took a small plastic tube-bottle and pressed it under my scraped knee, a drop of of blood trickled its way down my knee and into the tube.
"Well, ironically, we now have the drop of blood we needed," he said looking from my knee, to meet my gaze, "now we can do the riddle." He finished off with a mischievous grin. I refrained from punching his little grin right off and nodded. Just as I was about to say some snarky comment about his grin, a voice stopped me.
"Lox, David? Are you guys here?" Gia's melodic voice asked, "I've brought you some sea-fruits, mostly sea berries." She said and came into view. She smiled at me when she saw me. Her expression changed as her gaze locked onto my knee, then to David. "OMG! David?! You didn't intentionally hurt her for the riddle?! Did you?" She squeaked, panic washing over her facial features.
"Wh-what?! No of course not!" He shuttered, "its just that.. She got hurt by stumbling over a root.. Thats all." He said, ruffling his hair with his hand. I guess he kinda got embarrassed, I mean the whole story behind it is actually quite a big kick. Gia raised an eyebrow at David and neared me, "are you okay? Does it hurt?" She asked not looking away from my knew, which in fact, wasn't a beautiful sight. "Well, I guess, i mean it does hurt. A little." I said, and saw Gia nod in reply.
David tied a piece of cloth around my open wound, I mean, I didn't look forward to having infections. Duh. We headed out, not before gulping down the juicy fruit goodnesses. Gia announced that we should start getting prepared for the riddle. I took a deep breath and steadied myself, shifting my weight onto my other knee so that my scraped knee wouldn't throb. I slung my pouch around my shoulder and put a few berries into it, I also put a couple of bottles of water into it.
I took out a mirror from the pouch and looked at my reflection. Traces of dried tears formed down my cheeks. I quickly scooped some of the fresh-water of the caldera and splashed it against my face a couple of times, I started to run my hands through my hair to free any tangles when something caught my eye.
The werewolf tooth necklace.
I felt guilt start to wash over me. I shouldn't have blurted all that to Lizzy. I should've kept my feelings to myself. How could I be so self-centred? The time I somewhat 'scolded' Lizzy replayed in my mind, like a DVD player set on repeat. I was knocked out of my thoughts when David called my name.
Well, here goes nothing.
