I turn around, searching for the source of the voice, only to find no one.

"Who's there?" I ask, my voice a tad bit shaky.

"I'm Zoriad, a protector of Terramagix." The deep voice answered.

"Ermm, not to be rude, but will you please show yourself?" Misty literally took the words right out of my mouth.

"What kind of gibberish are you talking about? I'm right in front of you!" The voice booms, it really does seem like it's in front of us..

"OMG!! Lox! It's the tree!" David shouts, walking up to the tree and running his hands lightly down the trunk, and sure enough, we hear loud laughing.

I'm shocked. I just stand there and listen to the laugh, it sounds quite old, like that of an old man.

Misty stands beside me, mirroring my reaction.

"And in all my life, I've been told that nature doesn't talk" Misty mutters to herself. David has stopped tickling the life out of the talking tree named Zoriad, and is now backing up a bit, a blank expression on his face.

Then suddenly, out of nowhere, everything turns black, the only thing you could see is David and Misty, and their cold, mysterious expressions.

Then.. They start laughing loudly, their laugh echoing through my ears, and then, everything goes even more black.

<<<>>><<>>>

I groan, the sunlight pouring into my eyes, the laugh still audible.

What's going on?

"Remember mother put salt in your tea instead of sugar?" Misty asks David.

Seriously, what's going on?

I opened my eyes, to be greeted not only by the sunlight, but with a white ceiling light. A familiar ceiling light.

My eyes widen, I take in my environment, beige walls, and dark oak furniture. David's house. I'm in David's house!

Was this all a dream? Wait.. What's Misty doing here?!

"Oh Lox, your awake! Morning sweetheart!" David chirps happily. "Our daughter Misty has gotten an A+ in her English exam!" He announces.

WHAT?!

My eyes shoot at David and Misty's direction, my brain malfunctioning. My expression lost. My daughter? Misty?

I sit up, but something weighed my neck down a bit, I looked to see four necklaces dangling down from my neck.

Confusion started eating up my insides.

Wait, did David say our daughter?! I mouth hung open, David noticing this, sent me concerned looks.

"Honey, are you alright?" he asks, my mouth goes dry, a lump started to form in my throat. I couldn't say a word, not even one.

David comes closer to me and grabs my hand in his, "Sweety, is there something wrong?"

"How long has Misty been our daughter for?" I ask him, he looks at me as if I'm crazy but answers,

"For 16 years."

WHAT?! My heart leaps, almost out of my mouth. And at the moment, sweat is pouring down my face.

If Misty is my daughter and she's 16, that means I'm.. Old?

I look at David a bit closer now, and sure enough, my theories have been approved.

He has wrinkles, his hazel eyes now hazy, cloudy, different.

And that's when it hits me, I've taken an overdose of my sleeping medicine!

The End!
