Chapter 25 The underground adventure

One day the wolf guard got called back to the den by Tyler and Sarah.

Jacob: That's Tyler and Sarah.

Nicole: Sounds like they're in trouble. Carly? See anything?

Carly: Negative. The calls are coming from inside the den.

Nicole: Let's check it out. Come on.

They run into the den.

Nicole: Tyler, Sarah, what's wrong?

Tyler: What's wrong? Look at us.

Sarah: Our fur won't lay straight. It's too hot and dry around here.

Carly: Well, it is the dry season.

Tyler: But it's not just our fur. Our paws are cracked, our noses are scaly. We look horrible.

Ryan: Seriously?

Then Calvin and Serena walked in.

Calvin: Oh no. I told you two not to call the wolf guard for this.

Tyler: But Calvin...

Serena: You two. The guard is only for real emergencies. Not fur emergencies. Understand?

Tyler: Sorry.

Sarah: Yes luna Serena.

Jacob: Maybe you should try the warm mud pots at the edge of the forest. Us gray wolves love them when the weather's too dry.

Carly: Mud can be very moisturizing.

Tyler: That's perfect. We'll go to the mud pots.

Sarah: You have to come too Calvin. We never see you anymore.

Tyler: Yeah. You're always so busy with boring alpha of the pack stuff.

Serena: Boring alpha of the pack stuff?

Calvin: Like helping the forest animals deal with the threat of George?

Sarah: Exactly.

Tyler: And it'd be good for you Calvin. I didn't want to say it, but your looking a little frizzy yourself.

Calvin: Mom?

Serena: The edge of the forest isn't as safe as it used to be. But if you had an escort from the wolf guard...

John cut her off.

John: I'd be happy to take Calvin to the mud pots. No one will keep him safer than me.

Serena: I was thinking more about Nicole.

John: Nicole can come too. That'll make it more fun.

Nicole: We wouldn't be going to have fun John. But you'd definitely be safer with two wolf guard members. I'll go.

Calvin: Thanks Nicole.

Nicole: Ryan, Jacob, Carly, keep up the daily patrol. Looks like John an I are going on a day away.

Ryan: Better you than me.

They go to the mud pots and John jumped in.

Tyler: Ew! Don't get us muddy.

John: Why not? I thought you wanted to get muddy.
