I see her standing squeezing some oranges. I don't know what it is about her that makes me want to get to know her. I see her standing there and all I can think of is walking over there and getting her to talk to me.

I shake my head trying to clear these ridiculous thoughts and clear my throat.

"Excuse me."

Really? Excuse me? Hi, would've been just fine. What the fuck?

"Good morning, Ace." She gives me a small smile.

I feel my heart start pumping blood faster the more I stare at her lips.

"Ummm...good morning." I answer her, "Have you seen my mom?"

"Yeah." Her voice is so soft, "She's speaking with my mother and Adrian. But she will be back shortly."

She breaks eye contact for a second to throw some oranges away then looks back to me.

"Tell her that I left, can you?" I don't feel so comfortable around her. I feel nervous and I want to dart out of here.

"Do you know how to speak French?" She asks me.

Yes, a little.

"I don't."

"Well, then you won't be able to communicate with the people here." She explains, "Very few of the villagers here understand English. You need a guide."

"And I'm guessing you will be my guide?" I sound incredulous but I really didn't mean it that way.

"No." I catch a glimpse of a frown forming on her beautiful face before she turns around to wash her hands. "But there's an office a few blocks down from here that can provide one for you."

"Thanks for the information. So long for now." I tip my head forward and turn to leave.

I'm a douchebag, but it seems to come out only when I'm around her.

"Ace!"

My mom. Exactly what I needed right now. I need to buy a new phone. I know that I have told her that I broke it, but that's not the truth. I want to cut ties with Sarah. I don't want to speak with her read her texts, or deal with any of her troubles. I'm done. It was a mistake that I am never repeating again with any girl ever again.

I also need some fresh air. I want to walk this town's streets and memorize them so that I can start my jogging from tomorrow. I know that I will definitely need a guide, and I know that Cher has implied that she wants to be mine, which baffles me. But something about her being around me all the time makes me feel uneasy.

"Mom, I'm going." I wave at her and still walk forward.

"No, you are not." I hear her footsteps getting louder and I know that she is running after me but that doesn't stop me.

"You will eat breakfast with us." She commands and I shake my head.

"I need to go out. Right now." I jerk my arm away and she stops me again.

"Stop acting like a child and go back in there and have breakfast with us."

"My phone broke and I need one. Now." I say through gritted teeth.

I thought she would get it by now.

"Do you know where to find one?"

"No, but Cher told me where I could find a guide."

"And from where will you get the money?" She places her hands on her hips and stares back at me with a smirk on her lips.

I'm not ready to tell her that I have already gotten a job in a publishing house and that I have my own money. So I keep quiet.
