Drunks

Drunk people.
They have a disease.
Those who are addicted to alcohol... it's a disease that's almost impossible to cure. They can't help it how many drinks they order...

I have a friend who has an alcoholic dad. She once went to a meeting that was for people coming together and knowing they aren't alone in their home problems.

It didn't help.

The meeting didn't fix anything for her, it was mostly just sympathy and nice people there.

Here's the thing about my friend's alcoholic dad: his attitude is the same whether if he's drunk or not. He's always an incredible jerk-face and my friend gets sick and tired of him!

It gets to the point where she never wants to talk to him and doesn't want to invite friends over.
Do you know how sad that is?

With drunk people, you can't control them. You can't take away the poison and you certainly can't try to tell them what to do. That's why it's always so hard to cure them: it's only their decision to stop. But the drug they take is so good to them they're addicted and can't tell themselves to stop.

I want to tell you something...

That friend is me.
