Chapter Ten: Alice

"She's leaving." I announced, focusing from the vision that just gripped me.

"Who?" Jasper asked, by my side.

I looked around at the faces in the room with me, Edward's was not among them. Finally, my eyes rested on the concerned face of my lover.

"Bella. She's made the decision to move to Jacksonville with her mother. I can't see why, but I can see that its definitive. I don't think anything can change her mind." I explained.

"That doesn't make any sense, she would never willingly leave Edward." Esme stated.

"Do you think maybe it has something to do with Victoria?" Jasper asked.

I raised an eye brown in question.

"I mean, like the incident in Phoenix, at the ballet studio. Maybe Victoria has her in a similar situation and shes being forced to throw us off." He explained.

"Jasper has a good point. Check Victoria's decisions, just to be sure nothing has changed." Carlisle said, standing to his feet.

"That won't be necessary. Its not Victoria." Edward's voice suddenly sounded from the front door, causing all of us to turn and look.

My eyes, along with everyone else's in the room, watched as he stepped in further, shutting the door behind him.

I knew he had seen Bella's decision in my mind, and I knew it would be crushing him. So, I tried to look into his future again, but it was still blank. Result of the imprint.

"Edward, how do you know?" Esme asked.

His eyes were pained, and his features hardened, as he answered.
"Jacob and I told her about the imprint, and obviously she isn't taking it very well."

"Oh, Edward!" Esme said, pulling him into a hug.

"So, do we just let her go? Or try to get her to stay?" Jasper asked.

I shook my head. "She won't stay. Her decision is absolute and, I really don't think it will change."
I felt the waves of calm that Jasper was now sending into the room.

"We can't very well protect her from Victoria if shes all the way in Florida." Edward stated.

"Maybe, we won't have to." I whispered, as a new vision flashed before my eyes.

I was watching from afar, as Edward and Jacob stood, embraced in each other's arms. They were staring into each others eyes and seemed to just be enjoying the moment.

Suddenly, there was a familiar scent from the North, and a rustle high up in one of the pines.

Victoria.

A flash of red came flying down to the spot where Edward and Jacob had just been standing a second ago.

Edward was crouched, anticipating an attack, as Jacob began shedding his clothes, ready to phase.

Victoria stood, snarling at them.
"I thought I'd caught a lucky break when I realized your fragile little mate was alone again on the other side of the country. But...." She paused, her crazed eyes flitting from Edward to Jacob, "..I see now that I no longer need to go after her. Its the wolf's blood I wish to drain."

Jacob chose that moment to phase, as a frightening growl ripped through Edward, then suddenly...

It was over.

"What did you see?" Jasper asked, touching my arm.

"Its Victoria. Shes not coming for Bella anymore." I announced.

"Damn it!" Edward snarled.

Esme and Carlisle shot him a look.

"She's coming for Jacob." He said, then quickly turned to leave.

"Wait, son, where are you going?" Carlisle asked, stopping him.

Edward stopped only for a brief moment. "I'm going to La Push. Jacob and the pack need to be warned. We know how Victoria works. Jacob won't be the only one in danger."

Carlisle nodded once, and Edward disappeared through the door.
