"Shut up."
"What did I do?!"
"Exist for one."
"Is it your time of the month again so soon?"
"Yes it is. What's your excuse?"
Percy sighed from beside Adrian, throwing his head into his hands and tried to ignore the budding fight between Josephine and his boyfriend. Practices were very tense these days with the literal alien player on the team trying to 'fit in' combined with the upcoming championship, and the drama was all tied together in a pretty bow that was Josephine and Zed no longer on speaking terms.
So Adrian did what he did best and that was poking the beast with a stick and a shit eating grin.
"Bitch!" Alan called out with that disgustingly excited grin on his face. Josephine groaned from her spot on the bleachers and watched in dread as the barely sweating boy jogged over to the trio with a ball in his hand. "Do you desire to attempt to beat me in a game of keep away in order to improve your stamina and dexterity? Perhaps you may win if I were to use a blindfold?" He said it as if the suggestion was nothing and Josephine could only stare in disbelief.
Alan still couldn't understand insults did not mean you were friends with someone.
"Wow, such a way with words." Adrian said mockingly, grabbing his boyfriend's arm and batting his lashes. "Why don't you talk to me like that, baby?"
"Adrian." Percy admonished with a shake of his head. The ginger only shrugged his shoulders, let him go, and gave Josephine a rough enough pat on the back to send her off the bleach. "Go get 'em tiger. Who knows? Maybe he'll use a blind fold." Everything from his grin to his shrug was absolutely condescending and Josephine would have been a half step from cuffing the back of his head if Alan hadn't of caught her before she fell.
Left hand still holding the football, right arm holding her steady by the stomach, Josephine looked up at a smiling Alan with wide eyes. For a moment, she found herself at a loss for words and a new feeling of nervousness invaded her stomach.
Alan almost seemed... okay.
"Perhaps we should work on your balance too, yes?"
And he ruined it.
With a sigh, Josephine shoved Alan away from her and started stalking onto the field, Alan didn't take very long to run up beside her with that same happy smile.
"You ever gonna tell me why the hell you're actually here?" Josephine asked lowly, looking around at the other teammates practicing various drills.
"I already told you - we are here to cheer."
"Right." Josephine snorted looking up at Alan whose smile had dropped just a bit and his right eye twitched in discontent. He always tried to keep his emotions in check, as if he didn't know how to handle them, and she learned very quickly when he wasn't telling the whole truth.
Alan may be better at her in a lot of things such as running and lifting, but there was one thing she was better at - emotions.
"Oi, Jackson!"
Josephine frowned, her conversation/interrogation being interrupted by Zed who was jogging over with a clipboard in hand. He frowned over at Alan and Josephine's eyes narrowed at the use of her last name. His head dipped in greeting at the blue haired creature.
"Uh, Alan."
"Hello, Zed." Alan smiled back politely, hands clamped behind him. His smile was tighter than usual - thinning - at the sight of Zed and once again his eye seemed to twitch. "Fair weather outside on the planet."
