The blanket was now ashes, and the flames were also eating the Queen's clothes and hair, and she woke up screaming in terror. Immediately Ben woke up too and they jumped off the sofa in panic. The fire alarm began to ring, shrill.
"Luna!" he cried, appalled by the unbearable scene.
If the fire had not reached the earth fairy, it was covering up the light fairy, who was now only a human torch. With each second, the flames ate away at her skin, which was melting like snow in the sun. Her screams became more and more gruesome as she ran through the suite, looking for water, desperate from the unbearable pain.
Ben was trembling, heartbroken by the ordeal of the woman he loved. Around them, the flames were dancing to the sound of the fairy's screams, while she was experiencing the worst way to die someone could experience. He had to extinguish this fire that was consuming her, he couldn't bear to see her writhing in pain, his heart was bleeding for her. She was calling him for help, she wanted to live, she wanted him to save her, he knew it. To live even for a day knowing she was dead was impossible for him. If she was leaving, he was leaving with her.
Hoping it wasn't too late for her, he tried to focus despite his panic. Throughout his life he had learned to master other elements besides earth, including water.
Now the inferno had taken over the main room, and the thick fumes were becoming more and more irritating and toxic. Ben knew that at any moment they could both sink, asphyxiated.Gasping for breath, he managed to conjure up a powerful jet of water and hurl it at his companion, extinguishing the flames that were destroying her body.
He rushed towards her, praying that it was not too late. For pity's sake....if she had passed away, he would throw himself into the flames.
She was lying on the floor, inert, her body still steaming."Luna! Answer me, please!" he implored her as he knelt down, placing his hand on her cheek. "Tell me you're not dead!"
He tenderly stroked her face, which was miraculously intact, as were the insides of her hands, ankles and feet. Most of her beautiful hair had gone up in smoke, and the rest of her body was almost charred. There was nothing left of her white blouse and long red skirt. Her scorched skin smelled of the unforgettable scent of death. She wasn't moving, he could not see any breath of life, and the tears that were running down his face evaporated through contact with heat.
Around them, the fire was becoming more and more threatening.Suddenly a plaintive moan was heard.
"My blossom! You're alive!" he exclaimed, relieved. "I'll get you out of here!"
She began to scream in pain again, her eyes misty, and Ben's heart sank. Getting her out of the suite without touching her burns was impossible, as was fighting the blaze alone.
All of a sudden, there were three loud bangs on the door. His two friends, having heard the screams and smelled the smoke, had guessed the origin of the fire.
"Ben! Open up!" shouted Saul, alarmed by the screams coming from the suite.
He looked up and saw that the flames were blocking the entrance, surrounding them both.
"I can't leave Luna!"
The Specialist realised how critical the situation was and broke down the door before entering the suite, followed by Farah, who directly extinguished the flames that were blocking the passage.
The screams of the light fairy drew their attention and they rushed towards them, ready to act to relieve her."Hurry, she is severely burned!" urged their friend, horrified. "Farah, hold her hand while we call an ambulance!"
"Okay, Ben, but we must be quick, she needs urgent medical care," his friend acquiesced.
