"This is going to be your first big one in a while. We need you to focus on your training over the next week, both combat and weapons. Study up your file as well." Brock was leading me to the gun range. It was something new that they introduced me to. They didn't trust me enough before now to let me go there. "Your room will be unlocked 24/7 again, per my request. But the cameras will be online the whole time as well. Don't do anything stupid, I will know if you do."
I nodded as I followed closely. They were reverting to what I viewed as normal in this hell hole, fewer restrictions.
"Is that understood, Osiris?" He stopped to look at me when we got to a big metal door.
"Yes, understood." I forced a smile as I looked back at him.
He sighed softly before turning around to unlock the door, letting me into a large shooting range. "You will be here for an hour by yourself. You are not allowed to be in the gun range with another person. If we feel there is a need to disturb your practice we will remotely turn on the safety and enter."
I stared at him, letting the information in one ear and right out the other. It wasn't like he had anything to worry about acting up would only bring me more pain. I brushed past him as I entered the room, first grabbing a pistol off the rack that displayed different guns to choose from.
He let the door close, allowing a loud thud to echo through the room.
I emptied the clip into the hologram that stood on the other side of the room. It slowly got closer to me before fading into the ground.
"Alright. We will run some simulated scenarios for you to fight against. No hand to hand, just guns for now." Brock spoke over an intercom.
I turned to see him in a window, watching me. I walked back over to the rack and grabbed a hostler that was hanging on the side, putting it on my back before slipping pistols into the holders. I then grabbed an AR and walked back over to where the holograms were appearing. "Start it up."Brock ran the program with different scenarios for a while. All of them were successfully defeated on the first try. He was showing signs of frustration like he wanted me to fail at least one. After about the 10th or 12th run, another guard entered the control room with Brock, they spoke for a bit before he came up on the intercom. "Alright, O. It's time for you to take a break. The Soldier needs a turn."
"I don't think this will be difficult at all for him but alright." I walked back over to where the guns are displayed, putting back the ones I had been using. I walked over to the door and waited for it to open.
Brock stood on the other side, holding it open for me. Bucky stood next to him, slightly hidden behind the second door that remained closed.
I nodded slightly as I walked past him, heading straight for my cell. I turned around to see Bucky, walking backward. "Good luck in there, Soldier."
Brock rolled his eyes, letting out a groan. "Walk forward, Osiris."
I spun back around, letting out a giggle. "Yes sir."
Brock led me back to my cell where lunch was waiting. He left the door unlocked like he said he would.
I quickly jumped into the shower, sitting down on the floor and just letting the water run. If I could have sat there until the water got cold I probably would have. After my shower, I put on my workout clothes and sat down to eat my lunch. It was nothing special, just a ham and cheese sandwich with some chips. If it was something you would find in a child's school lunch it was probably on my tray. There was nothing left on my schedule for the rest of the day, so after my food settled a bit I decided to run around the track in the training room. I jogged for a while, listening to music, not focusing on how much time I was wasting.
After some time Bucky joined me in the training room. Walking up onto the track to grab me while I tried to run around him.
I squealed as he lifted my feet off the ground, pulling my earbuds out of my ears. "Bucky! They are gonna know some things up... put me down!"
He set me down letting out a chuckle. "There's no one here, Mel."
I turned around to look at him. Mumbling softly under my breath, "I know but still. They would lose their minds."
He rolled his eyes a little before leaning forward to give me a soft peck on my forehead. He gently slipped something into my pocket before wrapping his arms around me again, holding me for a couple of seconds. "This mission is going to be a lot... but I think we might have a chance to get out of here..." He pushed me away a little to look down at me. "If you have a chance, take it. Don't worry about me, only worry about getting to Steve."
My brows furrowed as I looked up at him. "What are you talking about? I don't have any information about the mission yet."
"Please Mel, promise me you will get out." He wasn't listening to me.
I could hear the sound of boots coming down the hall towards the training room. I quickly nodded before I put my earbuds back in, and began to jog again.
Bucky made his way over to the punching bags on the side of the room. He grabbed tape to wrap up his hands.
One of the guards entered the room, checking up on us. "You two have about an hour before lights out. Be in your rooms before then."
"Yes sir!" Bucky responded quickly.
I could barely hear anything due to my earbuds. I closed my eyes and continued to jog around the track, suddenly hitting what felt like a wall.
The guard had stepped on the track in front of me. Stopping me dead in my tracks.
I looked up at him and took my earbud out. "You said I have an hour."
"Agent Rumlow has requested that you return to your room now. He will be waiting for you."
I let out a sigh and turned away from the guard, walking towards the door. "K. Great. Thanks. Next time he can come to get me himself."When I got back to my room Brock was in the conference room. It was obvious he had been waiting for me, he had everything set up as he had already started the meeting. "Everything you need is already in there."
I nodded slightly as I closed the door immediately walking over to the desk to flip open the file.
A picture of Natasha's little sister sat on the top of the papers, paper clipped to the first page of the stack. The page was a description of the girl.
Yelena Belova
Former Black Widow
"Oh great..." I looked up at Brock who was also looking down at a file. "A Black Widow? Really?"
"She has been following us. Trying to figure out our plans. She must be taken care of." He flipped through the file while he talked.
I skimmed through the pages quickly, trying to keep up with him as he talked, occasionally asking if I had any questions. "Why do you need a whole tactical team against a Widow?"
"This is why we held off on telling you until the last minute." He got up from his seat and walked over to the window. "At 1900 hours tomorrow, you and the Winter Soldier will be transported to a small convention hall just outside Trenton, New Jersey. You will be disguised as a businessman looking to invest in Stark Industries, and his assistant. If this goes wrong there is a high chance that Iron Man will be there, we all know that if you mess with one Avenger, you get them all."
"So you're telling me we are being sent in to attempt to take down the Avengers..." I leaned back in my chair, my eyes locked on the page that explained the event.
"Unfortunately, that's exactly what I'm telling you." He knocked on the window slightly and pointed to the door where a garment bag was hanging. "Your dress is in there."
I nodded, "thanks... I need time to prepare... Please let me sleep now."
He nodded in response, letting the window phase to the mirror before leaving the meeting room.
I stared at the pages, flipping through them as if I was reading, but obtaining none of the information. I just couldn't grasp the idea. What makes them think we could handle this? I don't know how we could.
