Chapter 2

Once school was finished, Lavender dropped Eddie off at their home and then drove to her work, which was a record store.

After saying hello to her boss, Lavender got straight to work. While she was putting away records in the right categories, she danced slightly to California Dreamin' by The Mamas and The Papas, which was playing in the store.

Lavender was so caught up with her work and swaying to the music, she hadn't noticed that Billy Hargrove had entered the store.

Billy instantly noticed the girl, and when he saw her dancing he couldn't stop the smile that appeared in his face as he watched her. Not wanting to get caught staring, the teen made his way over to her.

"Nice dance moves" Billy said, and grinned when he watched Lavender jump at the sudden sound of his voice.

"Oh, uh, thank you" She blushed, feeling embarrassed that she got caught. If it was anyone ese she it would be alright, the regulars where used to the girl singing and dancing around the store. But Billy was new, which made it more embarrassing.

"Is-Is there anything i could help you with?" She asked shyly, moving a strand of her hair behind her ear.

"I was looking to buy some new records. You got any new stuff in?" Billy asked with a small smirk, seeing the redness on her cheeks.

"We do. We have some new stuff from Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Twisted Sister and Motley Crue" Lavender listed, gaining a confused yet impressed look from Billy.

"How did you know i listen to them?" He wondered.

"Well my brother Eddie is the school's metal head, and we always listen to rock and metal music. Plus you were playing a Metallica song this morning" She shrugged, as she walked to the back and a copy of each band and brought them out to the male teen.

"I have to say I'm impressed. You don't really seem like the type to--" Billy started, put paused at the end.

"--to listen to heavy metal and rock, i know. I like all sorts of music, except country" She explained, and scrunched her face up at the end, making Billy let out an amused laugh. (Sorry if you like country music)

"I have to agree with you on that one. I'll take these two" He said, pointing to the Metallica and Twisted Sister albums. Nodding her head, Lavender grabbed the records, and walked over to the register.

"Hey, I'm sorry about my brother by the way. He's very protective, and no offence but you do look like you would be friends with Tommy and Carol" Lavender explained with a somewhat guilty look.

"Don't sweat it, sweetheart. I get it" Billy shrugged. Lavender smiled slightly at the nickname, as she handed Billy his records.

"Well, i hope you enjoy the albums. Be sure to come back again" She smiled, gaining one in return.

"Oh definitely will. I'll see you at school, doll" Giving a wink and a smile, Billy went to leave the store, but quickly stopped and turned back to the girl.

"Hey, you going to the halloween party tomorrow tonight?" He asked, hoping that she was going.

"Um, I'm not really sure. I'm not a huge fan of parties, plus Tommy and Carol will be there" Lavender answered honestly.

"Don't worry about them. If they do bother you, I'll deal with them" Although she felt anxious at the thought of going to a party, she caved.

"Alright, I'll go" She said, gaining a beaming smile from Billy.

"Great. I'll see you tomorrow" He said, giving her a wink and a smile and left the store.

Lavender chuckled and shook her head. The girl would be lying if she said she didn't find Billy attractive, but he was at the top with the popular kids, while she was at the bottom, not that she cared.

Not long after Billy left, Eddie and Gareth walked in, making her face brighten. She moved over to them, giving them hugs. She knows that she saw them a few hours ago, but they never failed to bring a smile to her face.

"Was that Billy Hargrove that we saw coming out of here?" Gareth questioned, feeling slightly worried that the new kid was bothering his best friend.

"Yes, it was. And don't worry, he wasn't bothering me. He was actually really nice. Oh, Eds, apologized on your behalf for being rude to him earlier" Lavender stated, making Eddie groan and Gareth laugh.

"I'm not wrong, bambi. You befriend him, he will hurt you. And i won't allow another person to hurt you" Lavender wasn't surprised by his words.

He was always protective, but after what happened last year, people have been bullying her even more. It took Eddie months to be able to get Lavender out of the house, he doesn't want her to hide away again.

"I know, i know. He also asked me if i was going to that halloween party tomorrow night" Lavender mentioned, making Eddie's head snap in her direction and look at her wide eyed.

"You're not going? Are you?" He questioned.

"Yes i am. And before you start bitching, you and i both know i need to go out more. This would be my chance to socialize. Plus i think Steve and Nancy will be there, so i won't be completely alone" She explained, hoping that her brother will let her go.

"Okay, fine" He sighed in defeat, making Lavender squeal and pull him into a tight hug.
