Chapter 5

Lavender went to school the next day with a smile on her face. All of her friends noticed, and were confused as to what made her so happy, until Eddie told them what had happened. Even though they wanted to be happy that she's made a new friend, they couldn't help but feel worried that he will hurt her.

The morning had gone by pretty quickly, and it was now lunch time. Lavender was sitting at her usual table, with her brother and friends who were talking about a new DnD campaign. Although the girl wasn't really paying attention, as she was off in her own little world. Well she was before Eddie ruined it.

"Lav, you okay?" He asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine--" She started to say, but got distracted when she saw an upset Steve walk past.

"I'll be right back" She said, and quickly got up from her seat and followed after the Harrington boy, who was making his way towards the back of the school.

"Steve! Hey, Stevie wait up!" Lavender called after as she jogged after, and thanked when she saw her best friend stop. The girl stopped beside him slightly out of breathe.

"Where did you run from? The other side of the school?" Steve wondered, watching his best friend hunched over slightly to catch her breathe.

"No---from the cafeteria" She panted, but started feeling less out of breathe.

"The how come you're so out of breathe?" He asked.

"Stevie, I've been smoking since i was fourteen. I now have the lunge capacity of a two year old. Anyway, that's not why I ran after you. I noticed that you looked upset, and i wanted to see if you were okay" Lavender explained, and watched as Steve's body language changed and his face grew sad.

"It's nothing, don't worry about it" He brushed off, but the girl wasn't having any of it. Lavender moved in front of him, and placed her hands on his shoulder, looking him dead in the eye.

"Steven, tell me what's got you so upset. You know i hate it when people look sad" She whined, gaining a small smile from the boy in front of her.

"At the party last night, Nancy got really drunk. She was so drunk, that she said that we killed Barb, that i was bullshit and that our' whole relationship was bullshit" Steve explained, and he was quickly pulled into a hug, making him relax. Getting a hug from Lavender Munson, was like hugging a teddy bear, they were the best hugs.

"I'm sorry, Stevie. You didn't deserve that. You deserve someone who loves and adores you, and I know you will find that one day. Maybe not now, or this year but good things come to those who wait" After hearing her words, Steve slowly started to feel better and the two pulled away.

"You're the best, you know that? Like seriously, what did i do to deserve to have a best friend like you" Lavender giggled, just as the bell went.

"I don't know, Steve McQueen. Although, I am pretty great but so are you" She said, making Steve laugh and throw an arm around her shoulders leading the two back into the school.

It was now the end of the day, and Lavender had to stay back to speak with one of her teachers. When she was done, the girl started making her way through the halls but stopped when she saw a familiar red haired girl sitting outside a door.

"Hey, are you okay?" Lavender asked the girl, who quickly looked up at the older teen.

"Yeah. You're Lavender right? My brother talks about you a lot" Max stated, causing Lavender to blush slightly.

"That's me. Are the boys not letting you in?" She asked, pointing to the closed door.

"Yep, they won't let me into their stupid club. Plus they locked the door" The girl huffed in annoyance. Lavender frowned slightly, opened her bag and looked for what she needed. She found the bobby pin, and stepped forward to unlock the door. When she pushed open the door, she didn't expect to see some sort of lizard thing come running out.

Lavender jumped back, but soon let out a yelp when a smaller body crashed into hers, to which knocked her to the ground.

"What in the hell did i just witness?" Lavender groaned, as she got up while helping Dustin stand too.

"What you saw was a baby demogorgan. And we need to find him, before anyone else does" Mike rushed out, and then ran in the direction the thing went. Although when he mentioned demogorgan, Lavender completely froze and her blood went cold.

The others had left, but Will remained when he noticed Lavender's reaction. The boy walked up to the girl, and grabbed her hand which seemed to snap her out of her thoughts.

"You remember when i told you i have barfed up some sort of slug thing after we came back?" Will asked the girl, who nodded silently.

"Well it turns out, it was a baby demogorgan and what you saw is the same thing but bigger" He explained, causing Lavender to swallow the lump in her throat.

"When then we need to quickly find it, and kill it" She said sternly, but there was a slight shakiness in her voice. Will and Lavender then started going around different parts of the school, looking for the small monster.

Back at the car park, Eddie was waiting in his sister's car, jamming out to Led Zeppelin and smoking a joint. He started aggressively playing air guitar, and what he didn't notice was that Billy was walking over to the car until said teen called out to him, making Eddie jump.

"Damn it!" Eddie exclaimed, placing a hand over his erratically beating heart while looking up at the dirty blonde male.

"Where's your sister?" Billy asked, not caring that he just scared the metal head to death.

"She's inside speaking to one of her teachers, although she should've been out by now---wait why are you asking where she is?" Eddie questioned, looking at Billy with blood-shot eyes.

"I wanted to talk to her about something" Billy shrugged, not really wanting to go into detail about what he was going to ask Eddie's sister.

"And what, pray tell, do you want to talk to my sister about?" Eddie wondered, looking at Billy with narrowed eyes. The Hargrove teen looked at Eddie in slight amusement. He could tell the teen was as high as a kite.

"You know what, let's just go look for her" He huffed, then walked towards the school while Eddie stumbled over his feet to catch up.

If only they knew what they would end up finding
