Chapter 3

The next day, Lavender woke up to her alarm going off full blast. Groaning in annoyance, the girl slammed her hand onto the device, instantly turning it off.

Slowly getting out of bed, Lavender went to get ready for the day. Once she had her shower, the girl went to her room to get dressed. As she was her hair and make up, she suddenly felt off.

A cold shiver went down her spine, as she heard a familiar screech. Her breathing started to quicken, along with her heart which was now beating against her ribcage.

There was a rattling sound coming from her wardrobe. Lavender hesitantly walked over to it, and reached out for the handle. Taking a deep breathe, the teen opened it and let out a yelp when she saw a demogorgan.

It scared her to the point of falling backwards onto her carpeted floor. Looking around, she noticed that she was in the upside down, causing her to cry out in panic.

She stumbled to her feet, and ran out of her room and out of the caravan. She could hear the monster close behind her, making her run out towards the woods.

"Eddie! Eddie, where are you!?" She yelled, as tears ran down her face. The girl found a large tree, and quickly hid behind it. She pulled her knees to her chest and hid her face, her body shaking with fear.

Lavender noticed it was now eerily quiet, making her more fearful. She remained still, hiding her face to scared to see if the demogorgan was near by. Suddenly Lavender felt a hand on her shoulder, making her scream and stumble backwards.

"Hey, bambi, it's just me. It's Eddie, your brother" When Lavender finally opened her eyes, she found herself back in the real world and saw that her brother was in fact standing before her. The girl let out a sob, and leapt into Eddie's arms were she cried.

"Shhh, it's okay, Eddie's got you. You're safe, you're not there anymore" Eddie cooed, hugging his sister tightly.

Back in the trailer, Eddie had woken up to her scream, but when he ran out of his room he didn't see her. His panicked state grew when he heard her calling out to him from outside.

"I'll never be safe" Lavender whimpered, hiding her face in Eddie's chest making his heart break.

"I'll always keep you safe, bambi. I promise you that" He reassured.

After Lavender's little episode, Eddie had suggested that she stay home but she decided against it and finished getting ready for school. Through-out the day, Lavender was out of it which didn't go unnoticed by Steve, Nancy, Jonathan or Billy.

She was in biology right now, sitting at the back drawing in her book. Lavender was so out of it, she didn't notice that Jonathan was now sitting next to her, until her nudged her slightly. Jumping slightly, Lavender turned to face the worried look on her friends face.

"You okay, Lav? You've been out of it all day" He pointed out in concern. Jonathan had always seen Lavender as a younger sister, and always felt the need to protect her.

"I-I had another episode this morning" She answered quietly, not wanting anyone around her to hear their conversation. Jonathan's eyes widened slightly, and he moved to wrap an arm around the girl.

Billy, who had only now just wondered into the class, noticed the closeness between Lavender and a guy he's seen around the school. A unfamiliar feeling appeared in his chest. It was almost like he was jealous. Frowning, the teen huffed and sat in the only empty seat which happened to be in front Lavender.

"How bad was it?" Jonathan whispered.

"I thought i was back there, and i was being chased by a demogorgan. It felt so real, johnny" Lavender almost whimpered, making the teen pull her into a side hug. Jonathan was used to this, because Will had the same kind of episodes. It broke to see his brother and best friend suffer.
