slight angst !!
—"Whatcha watching""Don't bother me Y/N, this is the only time I get to de-stress" that's the sentence that almost always started off you and your mom's bonding time.
It was always a struggle trying to fit yourself into her 'Don't talk to me and do what you're told' schedule she had implemented in the house.
Your father was just the same, but moments like these never arose because he spent his free time outside of the house.
Your relationship was rocky. But this was a rare opportunity and you'd just die if you missed it.
You dropped down next to her on the couch, watching as her hands fiddled with the pistachio shell in her grasp.
You were in your pajamas by now, a tee that hung lazily off your shoulders, paired with the lavender sweats that hung off your hips you and Natsu tended to trade every now and again.
Technically speaking, they were hers but they were still comfy as hell.
Sai was either knocked out or chilling with his headphones in, his room silent when you passed to get downstairs.
"Family feud? Remember when dad said we should go on there?" You giggle to yourself when the commercial cuts into the show your mom seemed so eager to escape into.
"Yeah but ya'll don't know how to act without the cameras, I'd be too embarrassed to get through the game with you and you're brother"
"Yeah we're terrible" you lean back with a sigh, the glow of the TV casting a rich blue light over the both of you.
We're you really that bad?
"Mhm" She finally cracks the shell "want one"
"I'm allergic, remember?" You remind her. The reaction to it wasn't to bad, just a break out and puffy eyes but it still wasn't very fun to deal with.
"Oh yeah that is right" she responds dryly, popping a pistachio into her mouth.
Her life wasn't easy, both your parents had hard up bringing so you understood why they were so..confused when it came to raising you. They were only doing what they had learned from their parents after all.
It still hurt though.
She laughed hard at one of the jokes Steve Harvey made and you heard her snort. The room goes quiet a moment and she doesn't even have to look at you before you start cackling. She shoves you in the arm and for a moment you actually feel like mom and daughter.
You almost feel that she loves you.
"Hey" in walks your father. The atmosphere changes when he leaves his heavy work shoes at the front, letting the door close with a loud thud.
"Oh hey"
"What are you doing up?" Your dad pauses, and addresses you with a frown and an eyebrow raise. He was probably expecting to have a quiet house to come back to.
"I'm not sleepy yet" you shrug
Usually people were avoiding your eyes, as you stroked intimidation into your peers.
It made you feel something. To be so..respected in a way.
But when he was home it was you who was unable to hold any eye contact.
"Look me in the eyes when I'm talking, that rude Y/N" he shakes his head
"Sorry, I know" You turn your direction up, looking at the side of his face instead.
