October 17thWET GRASS AND A PISS LIKE smell soon filled Rory's nose as soon as she walked on to the track field. It was now two o'clock and she had her track practice to finish the day. She was a quite fast runner but due to the sexism of the eighty's she was on a mostly all boys team there was one other girl. She was a mystery girl almost. But Rory didn't talk to anyone on the team she hated the majority of boys on there and the one girl didn't talk to her. She tied up her green adidas she recently bought with her saved up money. Rory was proud of what she had made of herself. The only thing she needed now was a job. That was hard for her to get. She could never find one that fit her schedule. Kinda sucked for Rory. Oh well she would have to get over it.
The smell of sweaty boys disgusted her and she was just doing her normal stretching. Coach jones the coach who ran track was telling them to run, stretch, and exercise shit. She really only got on the team because on of the kids that tried out rolled his ankle and couldn't run so Rory got the offer. Her laced green adidas and high white tube socks were slowly getting wet as she ran track in the rain she was probably the second or third fastest one on the team. The boys would talk to her every once in a while but they were all fuck jobs so she really didn't car to talk to them. Their was a good amount of them that called her gay or a faggot because this one time in sophomore year she called one girl pretty and that just set them off.
She really hated everyone on her team but she liked running. It kept her in shape and busy. It really just took her out the real world. Track kinda just helped with her anger and sorrow. It helped her cope with when her brother went missing.
She had been running for thirty minutes and sweat was running down her temple and her legs were a burning fire. A pool of sweat was running down her body -- As any coach would coach jones kept barking at all the kids to keep running saying that all he wants is for them to get better. Rory's teeth were grinding and grinding as she kept running like her life depended on it. Her body was on fire and she loved it. It was a powerful, strong feeling when she ran like this. The pain felt like a accomplishment and she loved it. The boys were all slowing down but she kept at it. They had to run fifty five laps and she was soon on fifth two. Most of the kids were on fifty or lower so she was taking the lead.
Lap after lap she finally finished and was first one. "Nice job today Blake you won first again." Coach Jones said as he walked up to her. "I really did doubt you but know I'm seeing what your becoming."
"Yea. Ive really been working my ass off." She said looking at her clock. Time read three fourteen o'clock. "Well I better get going thanks for practice." She said waving her coach off. She grabbed her red and white bag and walked out of the track area. She was walking out in her little red and white gym shorts with a normal white tee. She through on her black leather jacket to cover her from the cold. It was freezing outside. It was raining and nearly forty five degrees outside, she said and waited for Vance to come. And soon came time Vance came around.
"Hey V!" She exclaimed walking up to him looking around to make sure the coast was clear to give him a quick peck on the cheek. "Ready to go?" She asked.
"Yeah, just get out of practice?" Vance questioned.
"Yup that explains the shorts." Rory said and Vance laughed.
"Those short are super short aren't they?" He said and Rory laughed and nodded her head. "After do you wanna go play pinball or something like that my mom is going to leave soon after we see her, and I don't want to be in the house with my fucking dad."
"No I think I have to go back to the hospital to Gwen wanna come along with me?" She asked
"No I think I'll go to the Grab N' Go" Vance said causing Rory to roll her eyes.
"Alright..anyways so what dose your mom like work as?" She had ask.
"She works at a hospital so sometimes she works late nights and others she works early mornings." Vance had responded. Rory knew that stuff with his dad wasn't good so she decided not to ask. After walking in the wet concrete they had made it to his house and opened the door.
"Hey Vance! I'm just about to head to work there is-" Vance's mom had started "oh Rory! I haven't had a proper meet with you how are you dear after your sister and such." She said asking sympathetically.
"Everything is fine now Mrs hopper but Thankyou for all the support. And the soup was amazing!" Rory responded.
"Oh why of course!" She said smiling.
"Oh um ma is dad home?" Vance slightly mumbled to his mother.
"No your father left to go somewhere."
"Ok good..um so me and Rory are like a thing so you will be-" Vance started but his mom cut him off.
"Oh thank goodness! So I'll be seeing you around more?" She asked.
"Yes Mam. I really like your son I do." She said smiling.
"Well that's just amazing! Well kids I've got to get going to work. As I was saying there is money on the counter for pizza." Vance's mom said walking out the door.
"Love you ma!" Vance yelled "I think she likes your ror."
