Chapter 7 - Good husband

“He did sent it as entry for this year’s photo festival. So, what do you feel?”

“Don’t mock me.”

“I’m not. Well, did you already see the portrait?” Amber asked.

I actually saw it in my eyes. The way she smiled at the camera he’s holding, I know it come out well dahil nasaksihan ko ang ganda at kasimplehan ng babaeng minamahal niya.

“Hindi ko pa nakita.”

“Then you should see it. They already displayed the photos. Many students are wondering who she is and why she’s being a subject for a photo. Ngayon lang ulit may nag-submit ng entry na ang subject ay tao and seems like it was having a blast dahil din sa ganda nung babae,” mahabang litanya nito.

I turned my gaze through the window at pinagmasdan ang ganda ng langit. Maganda rin ang panahon ngunit kabaliktaran iyon ng nararamdaman ko. I suddenly remember how I confessed to him a month ago but he gave no attention to it. It become an ash faded into air just like that.

“Later on they will announce the winner and it will be displayed on the bulletin board for a month.”

I nod still looking at the clouds. “Good for him.”

“Ohh. You can feel it too. He can win,” she teased. “You know what, kung hindi mo rin kinuwento sa akin iyon hindi ko siya makikilala. Madaming babae dito ang may angking ganda and I can say na isa rin siya, but she’s a nobody. Although she came to a rich family too, how come na hindi siya ganoon na kilala rito.”

“She is but they’re not that well known in the industry of business. I did a search for her already. Maybe because it’s her father that is rich and she, she’s just so... simple and a kind one.”

“I get it. She’s like an angel at parang crystal na mahirap basagin. That’s probably the reason why he fell for her.”

It is. And I saw it when I met her. Para nga siyang anghel nang gabing iyon. Hindi ko mawari kung dahil ba sa kalasingan ko ngunit ang itsura niya na iyon ay hindi maalis sa isip ko. And her kindness is an addition to her whole being. Almost perfect.

“Do you want to stay here?” Amber asked. This time ay napalingon ako sa kanya at tumango.

As she left the room I opened the monitor and waits for the ceremony. Hindi pa nag-uumpisa ang selection but the camera started rolling. The coverage is best to watch kaysa naroon ako sa mismong pinangyayarihan. Baka asarin lang akong muli ni Amber.

I saw him already waving, maging ang ibang kalahok ay may senaryo rin. People are applauding. Every photos has different vibe and there’s this one that really caught the attention of most people in that crowd.

And then maybe this was the day my heart skipped multiple times. My worst and a pain.

“...Also I want to give my heartfelt thanks, of course... to the love of my life, Samantha.”

I just looked at him wondering why he said that so sudden. I’m hearing it clear right? Am I?

Walang reaksyon ang kanyang mukha at isang emosyon lang ang mababakas, blangko. Pero nang makabangon naman ako sa gulat ay bahagya nang sumilay ang ngiti sa aking labi. Wala sa huwisyo akong pumayag sa sinabi nito.

Greg cancelled all of his meetings and after his lunch ay dinala niya ako sa isang boutique buying me a dress that I can afford too. But since siya ang nagdala sa akin dito I let him. Besides, I find it sweet at sobrang natutuwa ang puso ko.
