Part 13: The Future We Might Never Get

(Time Skip 4 Months)
Natsu's POV
Kienna squealed while Lucy played with her while she lay on her back, arms and legs flailing around in the air.

Lucy smiled down at Kienna and started to tickle her belly, Kienna giggled as I brought Niko over and lay him down next to his her, also tickling him.

Lucy and I played with Kienna and Niko, just enjoying the peace and quiet of Magnolia park, where we had our picnic.

"You guys are the perfect family," someone gushed from behind us, Lucy and I stopped tickling Kienna and Niko, and brough our attention to Mirajane, who had walked up behind us.

Lucy picked up Niko, and I picked up Kienna, "we were just having a little picnic," Lucy laughed lightly, I grinned, "what's up Mira?"

Mira's smile faded, "Master has requested that all Fairy Tail member meet at the Guild, immediately" Mira said, her hair falling onto her face, casting a dark shadow over her eyes.

Lucy looked at me worriedly, and I reassured her with a nod and a smile, "okay, we will be there in a few minutes," I said to Mira, already starting to pack up our stuff while holding Kieanna.

After Mira walked away Lucy came over to me and helped me pack up the stuff. "What do you think the Master has to say?" She asked while folding up the picnic blanket.
"I don't know, but I don't have a good feeling about it," I said, picking up Niko as well, so I cradled both babies, one in each arm.

(At the guild)
Natsu's POV
"You may be wondering why I called all of you guys here," Gramps said in a stern voice.
A few people messed their heads, allowing Gramps to continue.
I swear I saw a tear roll down Masters cheek, 'oh no, this can't be good,' I thought, gripping Kieanna, who had fallen asleep in my arms, tighter.
I passed Lucy a worried look, which she returned.
"One of our beloved friend and family members has.. recently.. moved on," Gramps said in a weak voice.

My eyes locked on Gramps, I felt like I was under a control spell; I couldn't move.

Everyone gasped, some whimpered.
"Our beloved Warren, master of telepathy did not return home from a dangerous mission. Near by villagers confirmed that he was no longer breathing after they found him laying in a nearby field." Gramps said uneasily.

This just was not fair. 'Why Warren?' I thought, looking straight at Gramps.
I heard people around me crying, which woke up Kieanna and Niko, who of course started to cry as well.
I looked away from Gramps, and over to Lucy, while trying to comfort Kieanna, who was crying in my arms.
Lucy had a few stray tears on her cheeks, I hated seeing her cry, it just pissed me off because when she cried her smile went away, and all the happiness went with it.
I walked over to Lucy, cradled Kieanna in one arm, and wiped away Lucy's tears. Lucy looked up at me as a few more tears spilled out onto her face, I frowned, just wanted to take her away and make her laugh and smile again.

I leant down and gave her a kiss on her head, "it's going to be okay," I whispered.
Lucy nodded her head, and I stood be side her, allowing her head to lean onto my shoulder.

Lucy's POV
"May he rest in peace," Gramps finished.
I looked around at everyone in the funeral hall, it was mostly all Fairy Tail members, but there were a few people I didn't recognize.
I looked over to Natsu, who was slouching as much as he could while holding Niko.
Natsu hasn't really smiled since we found out about Warrens death, two weeks ago.
'I never knew Natsu cared about him that much,' I thought mentally as I frowned, feeling sorry that things had to end up this way.
I realized what I had just thought, and how cruel it was, 'Lucy! How you could you even stop to think like that! Of course Natsu cares about Warren, he has known him ever since he was a little kid!' I scolded myself.
